As other reviewers noted, this hotel is kind of a very nice HI Express as opposed to a full HI Hotel, but again, it was very nice. We are particular when it comes to cleanliness, and are happy to report that the HI Marshfield was very clean and well kept when we were there. It appears to be fairly new; at least the interior design was modern and things were in great shape - even the parking lot was well maintained. We did not visit anything except the lobby and room. They lose a star for two reasons: (1) This is the only place we have stayed in the last few years without an advance reservation where the desk clerk would not honor their own organization's Internet pricing when we showed them their page on our smart phone (we're NOT talking some third party web site like HotLine, and it was only a $5 difference). We ended up using their computer in the lobby to register online at the HI site to save the $5, but then we had to then get back into the check-in line again after waiting several minutes (approx 10-15 minutes) in line the first time. This should NOT have to happen, especially for $5. Attention HI management: consider the benefits of empowering your employees versus the risk of losing guests to competitors in these situations. (2) The elevator had some minor ventilation/HVAC issues the day we were there - I suspect this was temporary.
