Vacation Time ! (#1 of a 3 Part Review) Monday, August 6, 2007 While visiting our son who is just one week after completing his Army tour obligation and is now in truck driving school located in Marshfield, WI. My stay in Marshfield was adequate. My impression was that it was an older hotel in need of updating. I reserved a suite, check in time was 3p. We arrived at 3:30p and our suite was just being cleaned. There only room available was one labled "smoking" Room 225. However, by the time they finished - 4p - we could not tell that there had been smokers in that room. The whirlpool tub was nice and after a long drive (8 hours) it was a welcome bit of relaxation - it also included a separate shower. Fortunately, we did not have a lot of luggage - 1 bag each - there is no elevator. Our room was on the 2nd floor. I always ask for a room with a view - we got a nice grassy lawn and a fast food parking lot. I like to have on hand lots of bottled water and after going to dinner there is typically leftovers which need to be refrigerated - the small fridge was a necessity. Also, there was a warning about missing towels, there would be a charge per towel to my credit card if any were missing. Most of the night was uneventful, except for waking at 2:20a to find my face freezing off. It seems there is no thermostat for the a/c - it will run continually on either low or high until you manually push the OFF button. (I believe this to be true of most hotel air conditioners) The price of $89.99USD + tax of $10.35 was reasonable and customary for this area
Check out time is 11a. This time we bypassed the complimentary breakfast since we were anxious to start on the 2nd leg of our journey.
