“Helped make Memories nicer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2009

I took my brother up to visit Merrimac Wisconsin ( which had not been there since we were kids 10/12 etc.). I have been to that area and have stayed at the LODI SUITES on a number of occasions with my wife. It is close to the Ferry, OKEE and other areas I visit. I have always found Raj & Karen to be very nice and accommodating. The rooms have been clean and very reasonably priced.
They have a pet room so we have been able bring our dog.
If you want a nice pleasant room, reasonably priced, convenient to most local attractions this is the place.

“Best on lake Wisconsin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

My husband and I have stayed at lodi suites 3 times and found it to be very clean, the rooms are large. The couple Raj and Karen are owners and operaters. They are very hard workers doing all the work themselves. They went out of there way to make are stay comfortable. We also made new friends Thanks Raj Karen and Papa

Originally from Lodi, moved away, and came back to visit , and do some hiking.
Great clean , nice size rooms, with fridge

I was pleased with the price and the location for our needs

Did not have time to use pool, but looked ok

  • Liked — clean , room and accomodations much like bigger franchise hotels

“Lodi Valley left a lot to be desired”

This hotel and it's owners/employees were to be found somewhat unusual. Made our stay that much more stressful and uncomfortable:

1. The staff was quite difficult to communicate with/they didn't speak English very well, so put a strain on any vital communications. Also, the gentleman who we had most contact with had a messy, unkempt appearance (unshaven/rumpled-looking clothing.)

2. The lobby decor was dominated by a large red buddha figure at the front desk, and the entire area smelled strongly of Indian cooking, which put us off from spending any time there. This was unfortunate, considering that this is where the continental breakfast would be served.

3. Despite the fact that we seemed to be the only ones staying in the hotel at the time, the two closest parking spaces to the entrance to our room were occupied. One, by an employee's car, and the other by a cage full of cockatiels. Yes, they were selling birds, and had them parked in the closest parking space to the building!

4. Upon first inspection of our room, a gaping hole was found in one of our window screens. When I'd asked for a room switch (which I believe would be customary in this circumstance) I was refused, reason being that I booked through Expedia and not directly through them. Ultimately, the only 'workable' solution to the problem was to duct tape the window (an idea I had to come up with myself.)

5. The aforementioned birds made quite the racket. This was especially annoying considering they were parked right below our room window (with the duct tape repair). Only after having made a strong request to the owners were they brought in and covered (acoss from the ancient/dilapidated-looking ice machine.)

To conclude, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing (or even normal) stay. Yes, our room was clean, and, as much as the communication was strained, the staff was friendly. But I just can't look past all the difficulties and unusual personal culture displayed (the Buddha, strong cooking smell, bird-selling) at this hotel. I can't understand how they can stay in business, except for the fact of it's close proximity to Devil's Lake (our destination) and the surrounding natural beauty and recreation in the area. So, no, I would not recommend it. My advice would be to stay at the Best Western just off the interstate (90/94). No, it's not as close to Devil's Lake and Lake Wisconsin, but I would imagine it'd be a lot more comfortable and relaxing.

  • Liked — Close proximity to Devil's Lake State Park and surrounding area
  • Disliked — The whole weirdness of the place
