“Better off staying elsewhere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This property is attached to the Grand Geneva Resort. The good news is that you have access to all the Grand Geneva amenities (indoor pool, waterpark for a fee, golf). Now for the bad news. We used some RCI points to stay here for the weekend in the Fall. The Holiday Inn resort is at the very end of the Grand Geneva property, on the golf course. It's nice to watch people golfing from your room, but the walls of the suites are pretty thin. We could hear so much noice from both sides of our room that it was quite disturbing at night. Also, you have to drive to get to any of the shared amenities (spa, indoor pool, waterpark) as the property is ginormous.

“Fantastic setting”

Arriving at Lake Geneva we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the place. In a fantastic setting on the shores of a lake just on the outskirts of the sleepy town of Lake Geneva you will find everything you will ever want from a relaxing holiday for the family. The resort has everything from a golf course to a health spa.

My wife and I stayed in the Holiday Inn suites and found them adequate although the carpet could be replaced. The self catering apartment had all the basics one should find in a self catering apartment including a washing machine and tumble dryer

The resort offers several on-site restaurants unfortunately we only had time to visit one of them, Grand Cafe .The buffet food was really good, fresh and tasty. We did however have to complain about the lack of service from the waitresses the first evening but the management were very apologetic and when we went to breakfast the next morning we had fantastic service from all the servers of note was Kelly who was very friendly and looked after us very well.

If looking for any off site entertainment we would recommend the Dancing Horses, just the other side of town. "www.thedancinghorses.com"

Hi Freddie. What an honor to be reviewed by one of TripAdvisors Senior Contributors. We are so thrilled that you found the resort to be everything that you wanted and more. It is our goal to make every guest feel like we are their “home away from home” and can offer them every convenience they need. Especially those traveling from such far distances as you did. Many of our guests never feel the need to leave the resort. Although, many who do will appreciate your tip for entertainment while in town. Thanks for bringing any service issues you encountered to our attention while on property. We are glad that they were taken care of. We appreciate you taking the time to review us and can’t wait for your next trip back!

“Great facility....good luck finding the %(&#&& thing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

The former playboy club grounds are amazing; long winding roads, beautiful landscaping & great facilities.

The problem lies in the abilitty to find the darn thing! While the entrance to the grounds is right off the highway, there is absolutely no signage at the entrance indicating that there is a Holiday inn located on the premises. Once you drive around the grounds, the ONLY sign referring to a Hoiday Inn is located on the back of a sign near the back exit.

The directions that HI provided in their confirmation referred to Cottontail Trail, which is now called Grand Geneva Way, and the phone number in the confirmation email was for the national reservations desk!

After a long day and a long drive, we nearly killed the first staff person we saw!

I would definitely stay there again and we truly enjoyed our stay.....once we finally found our way!

“Lovely week at Lake Geneva”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

We stayed for a week in September in building 5, after checking in at the Grand Geneva hotel lobby onsite. As per their instructions, we reviewed the list of accessories for the unit, made a long list of missing items, and within 24 hours we had everything from housekeeping. Amazing how much stuff the previous occupants must have done without.
We loved the balcony overlooking the golf course (hole #1, Highlands) and spent lots of time critiquing the golfers' abilities and helping to point out lost balls. My husband golfed three days and was given a half price discount because we are Orange Lake owners.
We ate in the unit most of the week and shopped at the Piggly Wiggly nearby, but treated ourselves to steak dinner at the Chophouse at the Grand Geneva hotel one evening. It was wonderful, with a terrific view of the hotel property, lake and fountain and excellent friendly service.

Because we were on the top floor, we did not experience much noise from other units. We had the one-bedroom deluxe and it was plenty large for the two of us. The other half of the lockout was occupied by a man and his toddler grandson and other than running footsteps by the child, we did not hear them through the linking door.

Lake Geneva is a cute little town and we walked around but did not go on the boat tours due to some rather windy conditions. We did drive all around the lake and could see that there were some magnificent homes that would be visible on the boat tours. Maybe next time.

We drove from Ontario and our evil GPS lady took us right through Chicago on a Saturday afternoon... on a road that was frantically busy, with expensive tolls, and took about an hour to cross the city. Coming home, we took a very distant highway route and still made better time with WAY less stress.

Room Tip: Buildings 5 and 6 are supposedly newer. Top floors are always quieter and have the best golf view.

Hello from Holiday Inn Club Vacations Lake Geneva Resort. Thank you for sharing your amazing vacation story with us. We love being able to keep up with our owners travels. The photos you shared are beautiful. Also, we have to give you credit for all of those “free golf lessons” you provided to the other guests. Surely they appreciated them. We’re so pleased that everything about your stay from check-in until you left was exactly how you wanted it to be. Thank you for letting our housekeeping department know exactly how they could assist you. It’s great they were able to give you everything you needed. We hope the weather allows you to experience more of what the resort and surrounding areas have to offer on your next visit. We can’t wait to have you back.
P.S. – Stay away from the GPS lady, she’s mean!

“Great Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

we did an exchange here for a few days in August. The Holiday Inn Club is on the grounds of the Grand Geneva Resort & you must check in at their main lobby. For us, the process was fast and easy. Our unit had a master bedroom & a pull out couch for our 2 boys ages 13 & 5. We had plenty of room, but we've stayed here before & know that we had the bigger side of a lock off. The smaller side that we stayed in last time was a little cramped so you might want to make sure you know which side you're getting. There is a nice pool & wading pool at the HI club, but you also have access to the indoor and outdoor pool at Grand Geneva. We enjoyed all the pools, the one at GG even had water Zumba on a Thursday afternoon. My husband golfed the Brute course and said it was a great course, but we found a nine hole course nearby that all 4 of us golfed for less than his outing. We also went horseback riding at Dan Patch stables which is on the grounds of the Grand Geneva. Don't let that fool you. I don't believe it is actually owned by the resort because it was rundown and not up to the standards of the rest of the place. They tell you you will be riding through rolling fields & the pictures are pretty, but it was a trail ride past the dumpsters of the waterpark lodge and through a small woods. We didn't eat at the restaurants, but we did our own cooking and the unit had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay here.
