This was our first year wedding anniversary but because of our busy schedules, we could only get away for an overnight stay, so we opted to go to Lake Geneva and stay at a B&B. This was our first time using a B&B - we've heard many pleasant things about staying at B&Bs and wanted to add it to our list of "things we've done." We selected this B&B based on reviews and pricing as it fit into our budget. Most other B&Bs we reviewed was way over-priced, and since we were staying mid-week for one night, it didn't make sense to us to overspend. Upon arriving at the location, we actually missed the entrance to General Boyd's twice! It's on a three-way corner, hidden, and the direction we came from did not have a sign or address, but we did find it. It is a nice quiet property. Very lovely inside, and the rooms as pictured on the internet. We wanted to keep to ourselves mostly and just "recharge," however as a business owner, I had to deal with a work emergency and needed access to the internet. The Inn's wifi was down, and although I was able to access the web from my cell phone, it was difficult getting the situation resolved. The next morning Bob and Sue allowed me to use their desktop in their office and I was grateful for that as it diverted a mini-disaster. But since the issue wasn't resolved until the next morning, my night's sleep was ruined since I tossed and turned all night because of the work issue. The breakfast was amazing, however, we are typically "night" people and having to get up on a day off at 8:30am was, to say the least, an inconvenience. We went back to our room and tried to get some shut-eye before our 11am check out, but that didn't fare very well. We had the Rose Room, which has it's own adjacent private bath, but we felt very uncomfortable leaving our room into the hallway every time we needed to use the facilities, especially after everyone else had gone to sleep. The other rooms had bathrooms inside the room and if we stay here again we would opt for one of those rooms. The property has a barn, and it was amazing to take a little tour of it. It would be wonderful to have a barn party at their barn! Overall, it was a delightful getaway and we would recommend it if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
