“Very Poor Sevice.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I stay here during Aug, 2010. I was disappointed with room I placed in. I had wanted a room with a view of their little lake, but on arrival my room type wasn’t available. I was upgrade to a suite but view was of the parking lot. I walked out on to the balcony but it was over grown with grass and cigarette butts. Not to mention the place is a maze to get around in! I walked for what seemed forever before I found my room. I also had a day at the spa located on the property. I had a massage, pedi and manicure done. The service received at the spa was wonderful and I left the spa falling rested and rejuvenated. I highly recommend the spa.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review pertaining to your August 2010 visit to Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. Many of our guests do not take the time to provide us with this candid feedback, the fact that you did is greatly appreciated. I want to apologize for the inconsistent product you encountered specifically the cleanliness of the guest room balcony. At Grand Geneva we strive to exceed all of our guest’s expectations and it was evident that we did not achieve this goal during your resort stay. Thank you for your business as well as your candid feedback.

Kindest Regards,

Brett Sundstrom

“Very nice stay, easily could be great”

Stayed at Grand Genva for the first time this past weekend. Very close (10 minutes) from Lake Gevena). Unfortuantely with the warmer temperatures the ground snow was gone so cross-country skiiing was not an option. The grounds here are stunning and getting out to explore them is a must. Room was very nice, not anything amazing, though the TV hidden within the bathroom mirror was a very nice touch. Very clean. You can tell the age of the resort though it is well kept up and maintained. Take advanatge of the spa. My girlfriend and I did a couples massage which was very well done. Men's locker room attendant Nino did a great job keeping the area perfect and was more than happy to bring me drinks. Unfortuantely my girlfriend informed me the women's clocker room was a mess and the attendant a bit rude. The gym has more than you could want, lap pool, indoor tennis courts, cardio, weights, basketball, volleyball, etc. Summer at Grand would be gorgeous but with the crowd there in the winter I can only imagine summers would be a bit insane. Grand Geneva was the old Playboy Club so ask around for a bit of interesting history. The one main drawback for me was one night when I was following a couple of employees in the hall and they were swearing like drunk sailors. Not a huge thing but certainly distracts from the nice atmosphere. Food here at the restaurants is very good but also a bit overpriced. The steakhouse does a great job but you will PAY for it. Overall, a very good experience.

“Perfect quick getaway !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My husband and I recently spent the night at Grand Geneva for a quick getaway from the city. We choose a junior fireplace suite which was perfect and well worth the extra money. I have read mixed reviews about the rooms but as one who is known to complain about hotel rooms I had nothing negative to say here, could not have asked for any more !!!

Before dinner we enjoyed a few glasses of wine at Evolve, the bartenders could not have been friendlier!

We had an amazing dinner at the Chop House( which was comparable to any of the great Chicago steak houses ) the service was friendly and efficient and the food was perfect.

Overall I would highly recommend this resort, took us 1:15 from the northern suburbs, it can take that long to get downtown in traffic and we felt like we had a mini vacation... We will be back !

Room Tip: Upgrade to a fireplace suite if there is one available !!!

“Warning the Water in the Refrigerator costs $7.50 a bottle”

The Resort, Hotel are just wonderful. However they like to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU by charging an additional $15 to $20 dollars on a RESORT FEE PER DAY. The fee is added to your bill and they tell you this at check-in. Hmmmmmmmmm so you show-up and then they tell you that you will give them an extra $15. What for do you ask? Well it's for: WIFI interent or Work out facilities or Valet Parking (you still should tip though, they work hard) or Trolley transportation or the TWO 16oz water bottles in your room.

Please come stay at our wonderful hotel, spend money enjoying yourself at our waterpark, ski hill, restaurants and let us take an additional $15 just cause we know you will enjoy it soooooooo much more if we take money from you JUST CUSE we can.

Hey, just add the $15 into the price and stop with the bad message you send out to your customers. Be smart.....be greedy but be smart.

Room Tip: Ask about all charges prior to staying

“Resort is fun but crowded”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

The resort was fun for a girls weekend, especially the dueling pianos on Friday nights and the bar next to the Chophouse (which turns into a dance club at night), but the resort was pretty crowded on a normal non-holiday weekend.

The spa was extremely crowded and as far from relaxing as you can get. There were groups of women practically yelling across the room and talking on their phones. Even the staff congregated in the "relaxation room" and talked amongst themselves. The massage itself was great, but I missed the quiet spa experience you expect when you pay spa prices.

Finally, we ate dinner at the Italian restaurant on Saturday night. Service was average. Food was below average. It was way overpriced for the quality.
