I stayed at Super 8 Chetek after working a photography job for a wedding in the area. The hotel in general was rather loud, not sure if they can do anything to help that. My first room, seemed fine other than connecting to the pool area, which was also very loud. Upon pulling back the sheets to go to bed, there were black crumbs and stains all over. Disgusting. While Tameka at the front desk was incredibly helpful and apologetic and put me into another room, I can't say the next was much better. My sheets were clean, but the floor, lamp, furniture...everything was stained and gross. I would recommend staying in Rice Lake when in the area over this hotel.

this was a decent place to stay, good fishing

I was very disappointed with our stay. The only bright spot was the staff person who checked us in on our first night there. It went downhill from the moment I unloaded my vehicle. I tried to enter through the side of the hotel by my room only to find out that the key card reader does not work during the winter. I have stayed in plenty of hotels in colder places and never had an issue like that before. The rooms were small and dingy. I found food all around my bed on the floor when I lifted back the covers. I could not get another room because the rooms were all booked, or so they said. There was one bar of small soap and no shampoo or conditioner for our use. The temperature controls on our heating/cooling unit did not work properly. It was either roasting hot or frigid cold because you had to turn the unit off. After my first night there, the cleaning crew came through and disposed of our soap and towels (did not replace towels, soap or put shampoo or conditioner in the room), and barely made the beds (very sloppy - I had to remake them). I had to go down late at night to ask for towels only to be greeted with a scowl. There was a meeting room that we requested to use and found out that it mysteriously booked for the whole weekend. The mysterious part was that no one ever showed to use it and every time we asked about the room we all got different stories about whom the individuals were, what they were coming for, that they cancelled at the last minute,etc. I will have to say that I did not file a complaint with the hotel manager. The manager was not very pleasant to deal with and was very rude to most of the guests in our party. The manager was upset about kids (which there were plenty of kids outside of our party staying there. The manager had no idea whose kids were running around), running up and down the halls. After the manager confronted one of our guests about the kids running, the guest asked the manager "what would she like us to do about the kids running in the halls", the manager responded by saying "stay somewhere else". That was not an option for any of us since all the hotels in the area were already booked. We gladly would have stayed somewhere else and ate the cost of the rooms for the second night just to be a way from that place. Sorry others may have had a better experience but for us we will never be back!

I understand this motel is under new management. It was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely book again.

Looks like they are really trying to spruce things up and add some amenities, they just need to tweak things a bit - like cups for the in room coffee, cream cheese for the bagels, knives to spread it, internet access - nothing serious - just a little annoying.

Nice, quiet but convenient location in a charming little northern Wisconsin town. Great for a relaxing time and antique shopping.
