I was out of options for hotels in the greater Madison area and our travel company suggested a B & B. I happened to be passing through Cambridge, stopped in and was so glad I chose Hanson House. They had a great room available, top notch service AND they made me coffee in the morning! I would absolutely stay again.

- Avoid B&Bs because of overly-chatty innkeepers? These remain unseen if that's what you want.
- Like chatting with the innkeepers? Duke and Mary Jane are delightful.
- Rather not eat breakfast with strangers? They'll bring breakfast to your room.
- Like breakfast at a dining table set for royalty? They'll do that too.

When giving us the tour, Duke said, "we love you guys" (our guests) and that was apparent in every detail, because they really think about everyone's needs. One guest mentioned it was "too quiet" so they placed a soothing sounds machine in the room. A space heater warmed my toes when I stepped into the hallway to get hot water for my tea. They accomodate pretty much any diet (we're vegetarian), and do it well. For those who dare to get bored in the incredible two person (with room to spare) jacuzzi, there is a TV mounted to the wall to check the score of the game.

The entire house was clean, warm, inviting, and well-decorated with all the details in mind, but without the clutter of "charming chatskis" often found at B&Bs.

On a sidenote, we're fairly certain we were visited by the spirit of a cat during the night, snuggling on the bed right next to us. The energy throughout the whole house is that of a happy home.

This was our fifth visit to Hanson House (from Chicago), and we are delighted each time we come. We keep coming back for several reasons: 1). The innkeepers Duke and Mary Jane are some of the most wonderful, delightful, and genuine people you could ever hope to meet. 2). The inn is really beautiful, clean, and welcoming. 3). It is an easy drive from Chicago (about 2-1/2-3 hours), but feels like a world away. 4). The breakfasts are out of this world. 5). The inn is very romantic, and the perfect place to reconnect. The inn's tagline is "Inspiring Romance" and it does.

This visit we stayed two nights in the Townsend Bridal Suite. It is gorgeous: king sleigh bed, electric fireplace, stunning claw-foot tub, and two-person shower. I loved the dual-zoned mattress warmer! So cozy on a December night. Because we stayed mid-week, we got the breakfast basket. It was different each morning, and it was wonderful! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I did a little happy dance when I opened the basket on the first morning. Day 1: Fruit compote, delicious fresh baked banana bread, yogurt, sparkling cider, and Mary Jane's amazing granola. Day 2: Fresh fruit, Duke's soon-to-be-famous berry pastry (tasted better than blueberry pie!), granola, yogurt, etc. The food was outstanding.

The inn is a very short stroll to the little downtown of Cambridge, WI, which has a couple of small "pub" style restaurants, pottery manufacturer/retailers, and a few cute boutique shops- just enough for an afternoon diversion.

We feel so lucky to have found Hanson House, and to have met Duke and Mary Jane. They are exceptional people: great at running their gorgeous inn, easy to talk to, helpful, kind, and great story tellers.

I highly recommend this inn for anyone looking for a luxurious, relaxing, and romantic get-away.

It was a wonderful and relaxing weekend! The owners were friendly and helpful, yet respectful of our need for privacy. The food was delicious!!!
