“Planes, trains (and motorcycles)”

In general I found the tripadvisor reviews of properties to be very accurate. We were therefore very surprised that none of the reviews of the Jellystone Caledonia campground even mentioned the noise from passing planes (the campground is right in front of the airstrip of Milwaukee international airport and the planes come over very low) and trains (which blow their horns as early as 5 am). True the amenities of the park are a blast for the kids (our 5 year old wants to go back next weekend again), but for the grown ups not much more is left than to load up on the Miller or Bud lite, so you can sleep at night (and that's what a lot of people do...). We would go back to another Jellystone though, but not one that's right in front of an airstrip.....

“Happy Camper”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

After looking online at many different campgrounds we chose jellystone Caledonia for our week long family vacation camp out. Check in did take a little bit of time (had a lot to sign) but the receptionist was very patient and helpful explaining everything. This campground is one of the if not the most cleanest that we have visited, including the bath facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area it wonderful and a lot of fun for the whole family. They have two very nice playground areas one that has a jumping pillow that was very fun and all 4 of our kids (ranging in age 14 yrs- 2 yrs) absolutely loved. We didn't like the extra cost for the use of their main park attractions (which is what does draw you to want to go there). If anything charge for the waterpark but have a basic pool available that is included in the regular cost or something. We did get the wrist bands and we were all looking forward to being able to mini golf one day since it was included with the bands. The golf course is HORRID. Not only was there no place to put your golf ball to "tee off" but the construction of most of the holes were falling apart. If I had paid separately to use this attraction I would have requested my money back.

We did go on weekdays which was nice the only thing that I would suggest that they consider is for those children who do go on weekdays and have the characters out, even if it was just for one day during the week, that was the only disappointment my kids had was that they didn't get to see the characters or be able to go on a wagon ride. I understand that weekends are the busy time and it is more economical to only do these things on weekend days but it would be nice to have just one week day where they do have those special moments. What was nice was they did have activities everyday for the kids to do which my kids did enjoy.

We did not like that you have to purchase their wood and can not bring in your own. It becomes a big expense when you are making ALL of your meals on the fire (that is what camping is all about) and their wood burns so quickly you need more than one bundle per meal. If anything inspect the wood that people want to bring in and inform them to not leave any left over at the sight when they go to leave (which is protocol at many other campgrounds we have visited).

Unfortunately due to our busy summer schedule we were not able to return this summer but do look forward to visiting again next year. All of the pro's totally outweigh any of the con's.

Happy Camping All. :)

“Not impressed.”

They do charge you for EVERYTHING, even wood, you cannot use any wood that you find (is a campground for God's sake), the place is nice for kids, but after a couple of days they get tired of the same stuff, and is not a big enough place to do other things, like hikes, take walks, etc. The cabins are in excellent condition, they are diligent about picking up the trash around, the store has everything that you might need, even coffee, already made, and ice cream, that was nice. Is close to Milwaukee, like 10 minutes from our house, that was VERY nice :). If you rent a cabin don't believe the website that it says you can always call to see if you can check in earlier (check in time is 4pm which I think is ridiculous) they told us that all cabins are ready by 4pm, there is no way to be able to check in earlier than that, even if you are willing to pay extra. All in all I think we will be back, because of how incredibly close is to us.

this place is great. they let you know your prices over the phone right away and they go over all the policies so you cant forget. they are even in your check in packets. the gate system is the best thing invented. wristband checks in the pool are awesome too cause why should i be paying and then other people are still in there or arent suppose to be they keep very good tracked of what they are doing. management and staff are the best. very friendly and always smiling. overall an awesome place to stay!!! always keep kids busy on the hour every hour. never can get bored. =] would highly reccomend this place! =]=]=]=]

“Awesome place for kids”

We have been coming here for the last couple years. There is always activities going on and the staff that run them are so good with kids. There bathrooms are very clean and there is always a housekeeper running around cleaning up after people that don't know how to be respectful of their fellow camper. They have a jumping pillow that I can't keep my kids off of...(one of their favorite things). They have mini-golf and added laser tag this year too! We just love it and they do such a good job making new improvements every year! It is nice to see the money go right back into the campground. It was such a dump before the new owners came along that we didn't camp here. Now it is our favorite!!! So to those of you looking for an well kept campground with plenty for your kids to do, this is the spot!!!!
