“YUCK!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

I went to the Homestead hotel for an overnight stay, and was happy to leave the next morning. First of all, I found someone eles' shirt in a corner, behind the chair. There was also cob webbs, crumbs, and dust everywhere, and even hair that you could tell hadn't been cleaned up in awhile. The windows, kitchen appliances, and dishes were smeary and did not appear clean, there was also some sort of grease on the coffee pot.

The house keeper even came into my room without knocking, which scared the SH#! out of me. The bed was average for a hotel room bed. It was noisy at night with doors shutting and I could hear/feel people walking in the halls. The ac unit was ok, but noisy when I was trying to sleep.

“A total DUMP”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

First let me say that I have stayed in lots of hotels - budget and high class. I have NEVER had such a complete BAD experience from beginning to end. The only good thing was that we were only there for one night.
We reserved a room on line. When we got to the 'hotel' we were also told our room was not ready and to come back in 2-3 hours, even though we were there after the official check in time. There were very few cars in the parking lot, and it was a Saturday, so that seemed odd. We had to get to a party and were planning on checking in prior to get ready. Instead, we had to go to the party and get dressed in the bathroom!
Also, when we were trying to check in, that creepy guy was there that the previous person mentioned! He was checking out people - looking them up and down and making comments. Total creeper!
After the party, we came back to the hotel - probably 10pm to find that our room was ready. We went up and found that the room only had a double bed. We had reserved a King room with a sleeper sofa because we had our teenaged daughter with us.
I went back to the desk and they said they only had queen sized rooms. I had printed my reservation that clearly listed KING ROOM WITH SLEEPER SOFA. Also, they tried to charge me more than the on-line charge for a smaller room!
They said they would bring up a rollaway bed at no charge and discount our charge by $15 for the smaller room. We were very tired so reluctantly agreed.
When we got back to the hovel. We noticed it was FILTHY. Mold in the shower and hair on the floor. The sinks in the bathroom and 'kitchen' had black crud all over them. I used a towel so I didn't have to touch the handles. Totally gross.
Someone in a nearby room was cooking something with curry in it - the smell was incredibly strong and lasted all night.
We did not sleep at all and got up and got the heck out of there. No showers - there was no way I would get in there.
When we went to check out (I wanted to ensure the bill was 'correct') Mr. Creeper was outsside with the desk woman, smoking. I asked to be helped with check out and she gave me a disgusted look and finished her smoke before coming back in.
Of course the bill was wrong and I argued with her. She said we were getting - and I quote - "a better deal than you deserved". WOW - I have never heard such rude and inappropriate language from anyone in a hotel.
There is NOTHING good about this hotel. It shoudl be closed by the INS or health department. That may be my next call.

“Could NOT Wait to Leave After One Night Stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

My parents and my partner and I stayed one night at the Homestead Studio Suites in Brookfield while attending the WI State Fair. We have stayed in this area for over 10 years, and this year we have had a lot going on and tried to find a hotel that would not break the bank. BIG MISTAKE! Our experience at the Homestead Suites was TERRIBLE from the moment my dad and I went to check-in.

Check-in time is 3pm. We arrived at the hotel (I use that term lightly) around 1:45pm to see if our rooms were ready. My parents had a king-sized room reserved, and my partner and I also had a king-sized room reserved. As we walked in, my dad had the print out of our reservation in his hand, and we approached the front desk. The young lady at the desk, Tanya I believe, chatted with a creepy man who appeared to be a hotel guest. We waited for the conversation to end; however, upon seeing the reservation paper in my dad's hand, this same young lady immediately said, "Oh, check-in isn't until 3pm. We do not have any rooms ready at this time. Everything is booked up." We were never greeted or asked how we were doing, which I found to be completely rude, unprofessional, and contrary to what the hospitality industry is all about. My dad and I walked back out to the car with an already sour taste in our mouths for this hotel.

We came back at 2:55pm to see if we could check into our rooms. This time we approached the front desk and the same creepy man was STILL standing in front of the desk talking to the front desk worker (this time a different young lady). A long story short, we were checked-in, gave the lady our credit card, and when we went to sign the paperwork I looked and found that we had only been charged for ONE queen-sized bedroom. As you remember, our reservation was for TWO king-sized bedrooms. The young lady at the front desk said she only thought we had one queen-sized room, got very confused, and had to phone the housekeeping person to see if there were king rooms ready. We showed our paperwork to “prove” that we did in fact have two king rooms reserved. This was absolutely ridiculous! With five minutes before check-in time, why is this staff scrambling around to see if rooms are ready or available?!? This young lady was at least pleasant; however, the creepy dude talking to her (same guy) was using profanity and again made for an unprofessional exchange. Kick the dude out or at least tell him to keep quiet during a transaction with guests!

I will keep this simple: the rooms are not worth the cheap price you pay for them. DISGUSTING! I have stayed in many “budget” motels in my day, and I have also stayed in some very upscale hotels. The Homestead Suites ranks at the very bottom of the heap! The bed was absolutely terrible. It was hard, creaked when you sat on it, and the mattress pad didn’t even fit on the bed (we had a king bed and it looked like the staff had put a double-sized mattress pad on). When I lifted up the sheets to try to adjust the mattress pad, the mattress had a huge yellow stain on it (urine?). I was VERY disgusted!

The room was dusty, the carpet was okay, but there were crumbs and such in corners and along the baseboards. The kitchenette and refrigerator were clean, but we really had no use for this. The A/C worked really well, which was one good thing about this room. The bathroom (pics attached) was disgusting! There was no shower curtain liner, so I had to just put the shower curtain inside the tub so water didn’t spill everywhere on the floor. The shower curtain smelled, was stained with god knows what, and the corners of the tub were ridden with mold (see pic). There was a rubber bath mat hanging across the tub, and when I lifted it off to place it aside, it was also corroded with mold (see pic).

The morning of our checkout (11am), I woke up at 6:45am. I could not sleep anymore in that bed. I had a neck and back ache. We packed up and tried to be out of the room before 9am. I would have a better night sleeping out in the car, and I would not have dropped $80. Next year when we attend the WI State Fair, as we do each year, we will definitely NOT stay at the Homestead Suites. I prefer spending more money and staying at a Marriott or Doubletree.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

P.S. When we checked out the next morning, the same creepy man was standing at the front desk wearing the same clothes from the previous night. If guests rent the rooms for an extended amount of time, I understand it’s important to build a rapport with them, but they also need to know that loitering at the front desk is perhaps a bad habit.

“Worst - Dont choose this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

I had made a reservation 5 days before and I when I came to the hotel after 2 days of flight journey, the "courteous & polite" receptionist at the front desk informed me that they dont have any rooms and I will have to wait another 5-6 hours to get any room where I can lie down & take some rest.
I now start to think if I don't know the meaning of "reservation" .

The staff here barely speak or understand english except for a few. They had mentioned that I get additional housekeeping every 3 days if the stay is more than 7 days, but they didnt say that it was on a extra charge of 10$/week. If I had paid 5$ in Walmart I could have got a fresh new towel instead of the used, improperly washed towels from Homestead. The room service was also bad.

And finally when I checked out they said that I cant check out after 10 PM, since the night staff dont know to do that. But sure they know how to check-in people at 1.00 AM. I said that I am leaving right now and she can pass the note to the morning staff to process my check-out, but nothing was done. When I called 2 days later to ask for a fax of my reciept, the receptionist told me that I am still CHECKED-IN. I was pissed of now and I called someone higher the ladder to get my issue resolved.

ONE WORD: Screw this hotel! This one doesnt even deserve a star.

“Best Value in the Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2009

By far the best value in the west suburban Milwaukee area. This Brookfield location is safe, convenient, and relatively quiet. Restaurants and shopping nearby. Extended Stay is for people wanting basic accommodations at a reasonable price. I have stayed at this location 3 times before and have always been satisfied. Full size refrigerator, microwave, small counter-top stove, and basic utensils. If you don't mind eating in on occasion and foregoing continental breakfast and pools, this is for you. If you need more, there are many national chains in the area at twice the price and more but with added amenities. Staff here is friendly and helpful. The property is clean inside and out. Internet access at $4.99 for length of stay. Recommended.
