My husband and father in law were looking for something in the Brookfield area that would also accomodate our dog. Having grown up in Brookfield, which is middle/upper class town, I figured the worst we would get out of a hotel was "average." We were wrong...
THE GOOD THINGS: To be fair, this hotel does have some redeeming qualities. It's less expensive than other dog-friendly hotels in the area (but you get what you pay for). It's in an awesome location, easily accessible from I-94, surrounded by great restaurants (Emperors Kitchen and Kopps frozen custard are across the street), and down the street from the Mall (Brookfield Square) and the movie theatre (The Majestic).... etc. The exterior of the building looks really nice, complete with nice landscaping. The staff was nice enough, and they had a nice area to walk the dog in. (Be aware that it involves a really steep hill. Once you're up the hill, it flattens out into a nice area with a nice view... but if you're out of shape, you may have some difficulty.) And, of course, there's a small kichenette.
THE BAD THINGS: I'm not going to talk about the outdated furnishings. They're not modern, but that doesn't bug me because I wasn't planning on spending too much time in the hotel. What does matter to me is sanitation, and this place just made me feel gross. When we first walked into the hotel room, I was inundated with oppressive heat and the smell of urine. It took the air conditioning about 45 minutes to *start* to cool the room down. The carpet had a gross, moist feeling to it that made me feel like I couldn't walk barefoot on it the entire time I was there. The bath mat had mold growing under it, and there was a mild amount of mildew growth on the bathroom tiles. We couldn't be moved to another room because it was booked for the holiday weekend.
PLEASE BE AWARE: This seems more like a vacation rental than a hotel. You don't get daily maid service. You can exchange your own towels and take out your own garbage if you want. (And of course, order maid service for a fee. I think it's complimentary once every seven days.) If you're aware of this and prepared for it, this might not be a problem. But we were not aware this was the situation, and wish we had known.
BOTTOM LINE: It's cheap, and if we were hard pressed for money, we *MIGHT* consider coming here again if we had our dog with us. We would not recommend it to anyone else, though, or at least not without some strong words of warning.
