“Everything you need! (except an elevator!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

My kids (ages 13 and 16) and I were driving through on our way to Ontario and stayed a night at the Super 8. We found the room to be clean and everything worked fine. (they have digital airconditioners/heater which helps for the accuracy of the temp of the room) Like someone said before, the t.v.s are a bit old but work fine. My kids went down to the pool and said that it was nice. The breakfast is pretty basic.....cereal, waffles, milk, juice etc. Enough to get you going but certainly not like a bacon and eggs breakfast. We had a room on the second floor and were dissappointed to discover the hotel has no elevator. So keep that in mind when making your reservation. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family!! (plus the room rate is awesome!)

Room Tip: Choose a first floor room if you don't want to carry all your luggage up a flight of stairs.

“great rates - pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2010

We were leary because of the low rates and the previous review but we were very pleased. The rooms are large, pool area is large. They allowed us have a late checkout, and we even hung out at the breakfast area for lunch with our group before we left. They were very nice and helpful. It's not fancy and the T.V's are old - but for the low rates who cares?! Our room was freezing when we arrived as well as the hallway - but as soon as we turned the heat up we were fine. We will be meeting our friends here again.

“Dreadful Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

I have stayed in many Super 8 Motels and this was the worst experience I have ever had. The room was dirty and the sofa bed looked as though someone had been sick on it and it hadn't been cleaned up. There were no linens, pillows, or blankets furnished to be put on the sofa bed. I had to ask twice at the front desk before we were finally given any, and then I couldn't stand to sleep in the open sofa bed so made do on the couch. The fridge had been removed from the room to be given to someone who had checked in to another room. When I asked for ice for our cooler, I was told I could buy some at the nearby gas station. No apologies for not having a fridge in the room. The hair dryer had also been removed from the room. The girl at the front desk was working alone but was polite and tried to be helpful. She told me the other desk clerk hadn't shown up for work and they had a large group of people staying there for a wedding. The motel was noisy until very late with children running around and making a lot of noise. I asked for some of the cost to be taken off our room charge the next morning but was told by the desk clerk that the manager wasn't there (at 8:30 in the morning???) and she didn't have the authority to deduct any cost. I complained to corporate headquarters when I got home and was told the manager would call me, but I never got a call. I will think twice before staying at a Super 8 again, and would definitely not stay at this particular one!

“Pretty Good 8 would be a better name!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

We recently stayed at the Super 8 in Black River Falls for the state Legion baseball tournament. The entire team and several families traveled together and stayed at the hotel. Check-in was long and tedious as several teams got there around the same time, and only one person was doing check-ins. She was extremely polite, courteous, and helpful and worked hard to meet everyone's needs. The daytime desk staff was great to work with. The nighttime staff was quite as pleasant, especially if you were one of the teenage boys we traveled with.

Overall, the hotel itself is nice. The lobby is gorgeous, and the pool area is a pretty good size. Our major complaint was the "continental breakfast." For the price we paid to stay here, we know we should expect an extravagant spread, but this was far below what they could have offered. Donut holes, 2 types of dry cereal, apple or orange juice, toast or waffles, and not a whole lot else. The staff member responsible for keeping the breakfast foods stocked must not have realized that the hotel was filled to capacity, as we rarely saw her, so many in our group got frustrated waiting for food to be refilled and resorted to going to a local restaurant for breakfast.

On the plus side, the rooms were pretty quiet, in spite of the fact that 3 different teams were staying there at the same time, and we all know how loud teenage boys can be. Didn't have any trouble with loud noises at all. The staff did a good job of quieting anyone who even began to get a little boisterous.

“VERY NICE WINTER STAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

The Super 8 was NICE and COZY. There was a fire going in the loby all the time. Comfy chairs and a heated pool. The perfect place to be in the middle of WINTER. The room was awsome with a coffee maker in the room. Channell choices on the TV were plenty.
