We used this as home base before joining the extended family for a reunion at nearby Devil's Lake State Park, and were very happy with our accommodations in Isabelle's room. The bed was comfortable, and featured one of Sharon's handmade quilts. It also has a double whirlpool, but we didn't allow enough free time in our schedule to enjoy it. Maybe next time! I'm pretty sure we'll be back for the stuffed French toast again. We enjoyed a huge breakfast both days of our stay, and both were memorable.
Hosts Sharon and John were very helpful, giving us tips on everything from the best route to the park to area restaurants. We arrived in Baraboo a day before the reunion to meet friends for dinner, and their recommendation of the Log Cabin Restaurant on Hwy. 33 met our needs. The food was quite good, the portions were large, and our friend who has difficulty walking had no trouble navigating the aisles. The menu was basic, typical American fare, perfect for my fussy hubby. After checking out Sunday, we enjoyed an hour-long tour of the Al Ringling Theater which was recommended by Sharon. Tours are $5, and are offered at 11 a.m. daily through the summer. It is a beautiful facility, and we'd like to return to catch a film or live performance on a return visit.
