“The only place to stay while in Door County!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

The Blacksmith Inn is honestly the only place I will ever stay, while visiting Door County. My husband and I have been to Door County twice and stayed there on both occassions - we had a perfect experience each time we went! The Blacksmith Inn goes above & beyond in every way. The innkeepers are so welcoming and friendly, the rooms are fantastic, the breakfast and afternoon snacks are delicious, the entire property/ gardens are gorgeous and well-maintained. We feel completely relaxed while staying here and look forward to it every year. During our most recent stay, our room had a king size bed, double whirlpool tub, beautiful water view, hammock, private bathroom with double sinks, a fireplace - what more could you ask for? Another thing we love about it is the location - being in Bailey's Harbor, it's a little more off the beaten path with less tourist traffic - but still an easy drive to some of the 'famous' Door County restaurants and shops. I recommend this bed & breakfast to anyone I know going to Door County. You won't be disappointed!

“Absolutely perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

My fiance and I were taking a weekend away in Door County, and we reserved a room at the Blacksmith Inn online, having never been to the area before. We fell in love with the property as soon as we first drove up! The inn is absolutely adorable - it is a large white house with a tiny red door. The "lobby" is a cozy living room that is stocked with free Door County coffee, organic apple cider, fresh popcorn and homemade cookies! You can continue to fill your ceramic Blacksmith Inn mug and bowl with these delicious treats all day and night!

We walked out to the small pier with a couple of Adirondack chairs and enjoyed the view from right over the lake. Even though the weather was chilly, it was an absolutely beautiful place to sit and enjoy a warm drink. We also had the opportunity to use their tandem bike to explore a little bit of Baileys Harbor, which was incredibly fun. There are also regular bikes that you can use, along with a swing hanging from a large tree in the back of the hotel.

The rooms are amazing - each one is decorated perfectly! Our room was immaculately clean, and it had the perfect combination of traditional, country decor and a modern, bright bathroom. The fireplace sets an incredibly romantic scene, and we also enjoyed the view of the lake from the chairs on our private deck. The room was perfect for our romantic weekend getaway.

Finally, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. It felt like we were staying at a friend's house. They are very accommodating and helpful with any questions you might have about Door County.

All in all, this was the PERFECT place for a cozy, romantic weekend away. This is honestly the only place that we will ever stay when we return to Door County!!

Room Tip: You can choose your individual room from their website online - in my opinion, there is no need to s...

“Blacksmith Inn - Best Romantic Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

My husband and I enjoyed the Inn for only one night but it was one of the best we've ever had. The friendly Inn keepers greeted us with warmth and graciousness. Our room had a double hot tub, view of the lake, canopied bed and cozy fireplace. We ordered proseco from the wine list and spent an amazing and romantic night. The history of the place is fascinating and the authenticity of the decor very notable - decorated in country chic not kitch! Our wall facing the lake was exposed wood and concrete and revealed a fascinating bit of history. Can't say enough about the place.

Room Tip: Go for the best!!!

“Fall in Love All Over Again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

My wife and I spent 4 days at The Blacksmith's Inn over our 50th wedding anniversary and loved every aspect of this fine B&B, truly one of the best we've ever stayed in. From pre-arrival contact and help with local reservations, though lovely appointed rooms with balconies facing the harbor, through breakfasts that simply made one want to linger, this gem on the Harbor offers everything one hopes to find in refined luxury. The innkeepers are attentive to any need, and provide around-the-clock access to coffee, teas, and remarkable cherry-oatmeal cookies and other afternoon treats. And the breakfasts...fresh fruits, homemade pastries to die for, and other choices to meet anyone's appetite. We left already talking of when we will visit again. Do not miss a chance to stay in this delightfully tranquil bit of heaven.

Room Tip: Visit their website to view all the available rooms. We loved #10

“Nice place on the water”

We stayed here last minute since our planned vacation to Maine was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. The room was nice with a balcony overlooking Lake Michigan. TV is VERY small, rooms are decorated in a country decor, and beds are too high to get into easily. Breakfast is basically continental and you eat in your room on a tray. We liked the location since it is very quiet in Baileys Harbor and you can easily and quickly drive to many other towns on the other side of the Door peninsula. There is no interaction with innkeepers or other guests so if you like that in a bed and breakfast, this may not be the best place for you. Our room was very near the road, so sleeping was difficult due to noise.
