“Excellent Experience, Small town charm, Hisorical touches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

This is my first trip to the area and I had no idea of where to stay. None of the hotels appealed to me, so I decided to give this place a try.

I was amazed at the effort these people put into making people feel welcome and their dedication to total accommodation. The town has a lot of pride and is quite interesting. Yes, the town is small, and yes, it is old, but the kindness and spirit of the people make it special. Every hillside inch of the town has been utilized. The inn has so many thoughtful details and "homespun" decorations that it is fun to walk through all the twists and turns and stairways. The squeaky wooden floors and stairs and the radiator heat let you know you are in a historical place. There are several sitting areas, large screen TVs, and a stocked snack bar. Free WIFI was a pleasant surprise. My room was excellent in every way.

Mike, little Mikey, and Wendy take you right into their family and do everything imaginable to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I even got a guided tour of the surrounding areas after dark. Mike made a special effort to present a tasty, hearty breakfast.

I have ZERO complaints. Walk in the door with an open mind, and you will, too.

Can't wait to return with my wife and share the experience.

Peace from Louisville, KY

“Wonderful Little B & B!”

My husband and I along with my Mom, Dad and sister stayed at the Linkous House for two nights, October 7 & 8. My Dad grew up in Williamson and we were back to reminisce about old times with him! The Linkous house is in a great location. The house was decorated with many fall leaves and pumpkins outside during our stay. The hosts were not home at the time of our arrival, but had everything ready to make us feel at home. The home is beautifully decorated with a country theme and the wood floors were just beautiful. My husband and I stayed in the Pappers Room. The room was nicely decorated with yellows and blues and was comfortable. Our only dissatisfaction was that the TV only received about 7 channels and the bed was just a little squeaky. We loved the small snack room and sitting room up-stairs. Here beverages such as water, sodas and beer were provided. There is also an up-stairs porch/balcony to sit on. Breakfast in the morning was good. The breakfast is served buffet style and included biscuits and gravy (very good!!), sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes, toast and orange juice and milk. Although there are not a lot of restaurants in the town of Williamson, you are just a short walk to Starters (sports bar with food) located in town. We very much enjoyed the conversation with the inn keepers and very much enjoyed the geocache!! If you are looking for fancy this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a nice, quiet, comfortable place to stay I would highly recommend the Linkous House Bed and Breakfast. The next time we are in Williamson we will definitely stay at the Linkous House again.

“Nighmare at the Linkous House”

I have stayed at B&B all over the country, and I must say that this one is one of a kind. If there is one thing B&Bs make themselves known is for their wonderful breakfast. I am talking 7 course meals with beautiful china and silverware. Well Linkous House served me Pillsbury biscuits form one of those pup up cans, cafeteria scrambled eggs, bacon, and frozen pancakes they probably got at Wal-Mart. I say serve me because the food was there and I had to serve myself. I would have gotten a better breakfast at a 7-11. I sat there eating that lackluster breakfast listening to the owner blasting Fox News on his TV, enough to turn my stomach, there is only so much fair and balance I can take in the morning. Then there is the issue of the room. I stayed at the McCoy room, and I think I did right after the Hatfield had their way with it. The room was super small, the picture on the internet shows a ceiling fan, and the reality is just the bare wires. All electrical outlets on the walls were uncovered almost to the bare wires. The bathroom was a nightmare, the commode leaked around the seal, did not flush so hope you don’t have to go, it will be embarrassing. The sink did not drain well either and neither did the shower. I hate taking a shower with dirty water ankle deep. The bed looked like it has had the same sheets for years. I could not wait to wait for morning to come so I could get the heck out of that place. The house is in a terrible part of town, nothing to look the window, It was so bad that I was expecting to find my car gone the next morning or broken into it. The air conditioning was either off or arctic tundra no in0between. So if you are a deep sleeper, don’t need to use the bathroom, don’t take showers, and don’t eat breakfast, and you are a neo-con who hates Obama, the Linkous House is for you. Me, I would never ever go back, I rather sleep in the back seat of my car next time

“So great we're looking for a reason to go back.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2009

It was our first stay at a bed and breakfast so we didn't know what to expect. We were blown away by the hospitality that we were offered. They went well above and beyond what we expected. It was a very clean and comfortable stay. They bed was a sleep number which was a great touch that we weren't expecting. There was a hot tub which was great for a fall night. While I've never stayed at other B&Bs from what I've seen their rate is much lower than others. For a price similar to an economy hotel you get so much more from this B&B. Highly recommend to anyone traveling to this area.

“Loved the Linkous House”

If you find yourself in or around Pikeville, Kentucky or Williamson, West Virginia, this is a really neat place to stay. Mike and Wendy Baisden bought and rennovated this large, historic home several years ago, and we've returned 4 times while in the area for family reunions.

The home cooked southern breakfasts are great, the rooms full of antiques and cute collectibles, and Mike and Wendy are such accomodating hosts.
