“Wonderful property, another great stay”

This property is really a hidden gem. The employees are exceedinly friendly, the decor is very inviting, and the entire hotel is amazingly clean. We stayed here to see the lights at Oglebay and do some shopping in St. Clairsville. However, we could easily have made the hotel itself a destination. We booked one of the whirlpool suites...which are simply amazing. There is a very big flat screen TV in the 'living' area and another flat screen mounted for viewing from the king bed. The suite also includes a small kitchen area with sink, frig, wine glasses and frosted mugs waiting in the freezer. There is a nice size jacuzzi and an amazing bathroom that includes a heavenly 'rainforest' shower and steam sauna. The room has a walk out door to the teak patio area and fire pit.
We didn't use the aquatics area but it looked like a lot of fun for kids and adults. Definitely a big step above your typical chain hotel pool area.
The hot apple cider in the lobby was delicious. The breakfast was typical for a Hampton...a good variety served in a well above average breakfast area.
The only issue we had at the hotel was related to breakfast...and not the hotels fault. The hotel had no control over the inconsiderate guests at breakfast. Whenever the hot food was replenished, some guests would descend on it like vultures, piling their plates high and leaving nothing for other guests. Unfortunately, you find that type of boorish behavior everywhere.
We will definitely be back here again...just staying in the suites is worth every penny of the viisit.

“Great recent upgrades”

We went to Wheeling for a two day event at WesBanco Arena (it is a short drive, maybe 5-7 minutes). We checked in at about 8:00 pm, and the front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. There was hot cider and cookies when we arrived. The newly upgraded pool, steam, and workout rooms were still open and very clean and inviting. I would love to go back when the weather is warmer because the outdoor areas are lovely, with an outdoor firepit, and even a nice designated area for smokers. The room was exceptionally clean and well-planned, and of course with clean duvet cover and robes. We used the WiFi, and had a great connection and no problems. We were on a very quiet 5th floor, even though the the hotel was full. It is within a quick walking distance and driving distance to a number of good places to eat. The complimentary breakfast had everything promised plus more: Belgian waffles, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, juice, etc. etc. and it was pretty good. It was a very clean, comfortable place to stay with lots of little "extras" for this price range and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff.

“Excellent Kids Pool!”

Stayed here for an Oglebay Festival of Lights and Good Zoo trip this holiday week. The aquatic Center is awesome! Has a hot tub indoor as well as out. Steam Rooms, a hot shower. Tons of great water features for the kids in the pool. Definitely the greatest Hampton Inn Pool I've ever seen.

The hot apple cider in the lobby was also a welcome surprise.

We'll definitely be back to this property!

“WOW!!”

I was blown away by this hotel. I stayed there for the night so my wife and kids and I could see the lights at Oglebay. I used HHonor points and expected this to be a typical Hampton... a nice and clean hotel, but nothing really special. I was very surprised and have already made plans to go back for a weekend with friends and their kids. The rooms were typical, but perhaps a bit bigger, the staff was over the top helpful - even offering us hockey tickets to a game that night. While the hotel is not as refined as a Conrad, the drive is there...

What made this hotel so great, and really a destination is the pool area. The pool has all sorts of great 'things' for kids from a rain "shower" coming from ceiling to water spouts, and on and on. It has a swim spa built in to the main pool, a hot tub, steam roomS. During the summer there is also an outdoor water area for the kids.

This is wheeling, so it is not a huge destination, but if you are within a couple hours of it, it is a great weekend with the kids. Good family restaraunts nearby, Cabellas - which is fun whether you are a hunter/outdoorsman or not just to see all animals, and of course Oglebay and its golf courses.

As you can tell, i was blown away by the quality of this Hampton and their attention to detail and customer services.

There are two Hamptons in Wheeling, make sure you get the right one... this is close to Oglebay and Cabellas.

Room Tip: We were right outside the elevator and our wall shared with the icemaker. I didnt hear a thing thou...

“Hotel Staff and Management Rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

They charged our debit card three times for our stay. Caused my bank account because of those three charges to overdraft. When i called them the woman manager actually laughed and said oh my bad. No refund was given for all the bank charges I was hit with, no apology, just rude and unhelpful .
