“Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We spent my mom's birthday weekend, and the Luxury River View rooms ( we had two of them) were perfect for our ladies' weekend. The rooms were comfortable & clean & the view & balcony were good. It was very quiet here - I'm used to the sound of other rooms' doors opening and closing and the water running, and there was none of that. There were three of us in each room, and at check-in, the sleepsofas had been made up for us. That was great, but if they knew we had three in each room, we wondered why there were only two coffee mugs per room. One room had both regular and decaf coffee (but only one pack of each) but only two creamers; the other room had only a pack of decaf and four creamers. Didn't make sense. I would stay here again, though, especially in warm weather when we could enjoy the balcony. See my separate review of the restaurant.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Your comments regarding the coffee makes perfect sense, and I apologize that this was not taken care of. I have shared this with our front desk & housekeeping team to be able to be more pro-active in the future. Thank you for this valuable suggestion, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
Sincerely,
The Asam Family

“The Best of the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The resort is OUTSTANDING!!! The food is of such a quality that it cannot be compared to anything else. The rooms are the most incredible that one could ever even desire for. This is the end all location where one gets the best of the best in every sense of the word!!! Don't even hesitate to book here. P.S. The little town of Shepherdsville is very cozy. Please venture out.

Room Tip: Any room with a view of the river as well as a fireplace and hot tub.

“Experience Europe in West Virginia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

A great old world dining and lodging experience overlooking the Potomac River. Our deluxe room in one of the chalets was beautifully appointed with a fireplace that really heated the room and a luxurious jacuzzi tub. We had dinner in the dining room (the Ratskeller has the same menu but is more casual) with a menu featuring both American and German specialties. Dinner was delicious and the service excellent. Breakfast was equally good with a great menu. Service in the hotel is friendly and professional.

Room Tip: Get a room in one of the chalets.

“Nice rooms, great view, could use a little makeup”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed in winter. We had the river view rooms, which was very nicely appointed, with apples waiting for us. Would be a better stay in the summer, when you could use the balcony, tennis court, etc.

The only negative was that to get to the rooms you have to go through a pretty dingy corridor, a real contrast to the nice interior of the room itself.

“Unexpected delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

So my husband and I were going to do some rafting and hiking in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. While we love being in the field getting dirty all day, we want an upscale hotel with all the amenities for night. It appeared the options were limited and I settled on the Bavarian Inn in Sheperdstown. My first impression when we arrived was that we wandered into the Swiss Alps and Heidi or Pippi or someone with clogs would be wandereing the grounds. The check in room was musty with old decorations. I started apologizing to my husband . But when we went to our room, I felt I was in a luxurious, modern hotel, big, comfortable bed , flat screen tv, up to date and sizeable bathroom with a balcony overlooking the Potomac. Could not have asked for anything more. Dont be fooled by bavarian theme outside, would absolutely stay here again.
