Stayed from july 5,2009 until july 11,2009,smokehole cabins are cleaner than any hotel or motel we have ever stayed.Jerry and his wife are two of the nicest people you will ever meet.Jerry rides motorcycles and took 18 of us on some of the best mountaln riding you will ever do.We met 8 bikers from ontario canada,great people had a good time riding with everyone,SmokeHole Resort is a great place to go and just relax and li sten to the river. My husband and I travel quite often each year so feel qualified to compare facilities and service. I've never written a review before however; because of negative online reviews decided this was necessary. We stayed at the cabins, which were beautiful and very clean. The grounds are well kept and so appealing. It truly is a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Jerry, his family, and employees work hard to maintain the beauty and were always available to give the best possible service and always with a smile. They were very friendly hosts and the pride in their resort and what they have to offer is evident. As paying guests we also have a responsibility to be considerate, not expecting unreasonable priveleges, service, or freebies.

We took a large group of 31 motorcycles 59 people in all. We all stayed at the cabins, what a beautiful setting. We were hesitant upon going due to some of the reviews we read. I had called Terry and asked about the reviews and he asured me that we would have a wonderful time. From the time we got there until we left we received nothing but the best treatment. Jerry and Janet the owners were unbeleivable they bent over backwards to make sure we all were satisfied. They spent time trying to get to know all of us, they made you feel right at home. They even allowed us to walk thru there own personel home to see Jerry's animal mountThe cabins are absolutly wonderful, and the maid servise was terrific. With out seeing the place you may think the price is high but once you get there you will not think so. Jill and Jonelle prepared such awesome meals for usI believe I gained ten pounds. Jerry led our group on a motorcycle tour on Saturday and we all enjoyed that as well. No complaints from us the four J's were great people to meet. THANKS

Let's be honest here, the owners somehow tripped onto a cash cow that is so lucrative, there is almost no way to ruin their cash flow, despite their best efforts. Smoke hole is an exceptionally beautiful place, with plenty to do and see. The locals are friendly, helpful, wonderful people that work hard to take advantage of this natural resource. The blight, is Smoke Hole Family Cabins and Hotel...emphasis on Hotel, as I've not stayed in the cabins, and will never allow myself the chance. I do NOT doubt the experiences others have written in detail.

The workers seem surly, and weary of their clientele. The Hotel, upon first blush, looks rustic, quaint, and inviting. The interior is very rustic also. Corners were cut at every opportunity, such as the noise level of the plumbing (you can hear a toilet flush three rooms over), and the lack of insulation between rooms. The walls actually amplify noise, rather than reduce it. This was a place we could not get out of fast enough.

Don't expect to be a valued customer, or to have an average experience.
