We took a large group of 31 motorcycles 59 people in all. We all stayed at the cabins, what a beautiful setting. We were hesitant upon going due to some of the reviews we read. I had called Terry and asked about the reviews and he asured me that we would have a wonderful time. From the time we got there until we left we received nothing but the best treatment. Jerry and Janet the owners were unbeleivable they bent over backwards to make sure we all were satisfied. They spent time trying to get to know all of us, they made you feel right at home. They even allowed us to walk thru there own personel home to see Jerry's animal mountThe cabins are absolutly wonderful, and the maid servise was terrific. With out seeing the place you may think the price is high but once you get there you will not think so. Jill and Jonelle prepared such awesome meals for usI believe I gained ten pounds. Jerry led our group on a motorcycle tour on Saturday and we all enjoyed that as well. No complaints from us the four J's were great people to meet. THANKS

Let's be honest here, the owners somehow tripped onto a cash cow that is so lucrative, there is almost no way to ruin their cash flow, despite their best efforts. Smoke hole is an exceptionally beautiful place, with plenty to do and see. The locals are friendly, helpful, wonderful people that work hard to take advantage of this natural resource. The blight, is Smoke Hole Family Cabins and Hotel...emphasis on Hotel, as I've not stayed in the cabins, and will never allow myself the chance. I do NOT doubt the experiences others have written in detail.

The workers seem surly, and weary of their clientele. The Hotel, upon first blush, looks rustic, quaint, and inviting. The interior is very rustic also. Corners were cut at every opportunity, such as the noise level of the plumbing (you can hear a toilet flush three rooms over), and the lack of insulation between rooms. The walls actually amplify noise, rather than reduce it. This was a place we could not get out of fast enough.

Don't expect to be a valued customer, or to have an average experience.

We arrived at 6:30PM. The open sign was on but the building was locked. There was a bubble board with two numbers to call for a room. We called both numbers and got answering machines. We left a message. No one showed up on returned our call. We called again and again, no one answered. We never received a call back. It wasn't that their customer service was poor....There was none. My recommendation is not to stay here unless you can arrive before 4:30PM

We stayed at the Smoke Hole Motel. Motel is very simple, but clean. The grounds are very well kept. It is adjacent to the Smoke Hole Caverns and Gift shop. All the employees were very pleasant and accommodating. I had a small concern about staying here due to some of the negative reviews, but luckily our experience was truely pleasant. We were invited and chose to have dinner down at the Smoke Hole Resort. For $19 a person, it was deep fried turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos and gravy, garden salad, broccoli salad, greenbeans, garlic bread, dessert, sweet tea and soda. Absolutely delicious!!! Seemed a little steep in price, but the food, atmosphere, and conversation with the other guests made for a wonderful evening. Would definitely do this again!!!!
