My husband and I booked a room here on a cross-country trip, and it was our absolute worst lodging experience ever, bar none!
The motel office looked like it might once have been a fast-food restaurant. It smelled of stale urine, or stale urine mixed with the odor of cheap incense. I noticed a long handwritten list of people not to rent to. We walked up the exterior stairs and hallway to our second-floor room. Some sleazy-looking guy sat outside his room on a cooler drinking a beer.
Our room was awful. A hair clip held the sagging drapes closed. Someone had previously slammed the front door into the wall, leaving a deep imprint of the door handle. The lock on the bathroom door was busted. The bathroom floor felt greasy. The soles of my brand-new white socks turned black.
We slept on top of the sheets, in our street clothes. It was never dark in our room, because there was a security spotlight focused directly on our window, and the miserable drapes weren't worth a darn. A freight train blew its horn right across the street, jolting us from our fitful sleep. It was the worst night's sleep we'd ever had. My husband said the shower was serviceable, but I decided not to shower the next morning. We couldn't wait to get the heck out of there in the morning.
All this for sixty bucks, can you believe it? The place has the aura of a motel that rents by the hour, if you know what I mean. I am definitely going to lodge a complaint with Choice Hotels Int'l.
And I will never again book lodgings without checking the Trip Advisor ratings!
