“WARNING ! ! ! ! THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF ! ! ! BEWARE ! ! !”

My husband had to stay here for a few months while he was out of town working. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone unless your just looking for an overnight stay. It's like paying for a night at the Hilton but getting The Red Roof Inn instead. If you plan on staying here for a week or longer i suggest you try and pay with cash because they will RIP U OFF they over charge your card for more than what they are suppose to. I had to call them countless times because they kept our checking account jacked up. Oh and the WIFI and CELL service DOES NOT pick up in all areas of the hotel. THIS PLACE SUCKS BEWARE ! ! !

“Good budget quality hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

The Inn is under new management, having left the American Host Chain(?). The room with two queen beds was of average size and quality and had the usual amenities ( coffee maker, ironing board, hair dryer etc.) . Sheets, towels and blankets were well used but clean although one pillow had blood stains underneath the cover which the management changed as soon as we notified them. A continental breakfast was available each morning. The Inn has an indoor pool and wireless internet and overlooks one of the locks on the Ohio River. All in all, this motel is probably the best of several in the New Martinsville area.

Room Tip: Recommend a second floor room overlooking the Ohio River.

“a sorry excuse for a hotel!!!!”

My spouse and I, along with mt daughter purchased a member monthly pass for the pool and spa, for $120.00. The pool and spa was nasty. Mold and grime in both. On our 5th trip in the spa was cloudy green. We showed this to a worker then went home. I went to a pool and spa dealer who tests water and took them a pool sample. The pool water tested for NO chlorine and danger ph levels. The hotel called us at 10 pm and said the pool was closed to all member and they were calling every one who had memberships. When we returned the day the pool was to reopen, we found that the pool was never closed and they told us we were banned for life and if we were ever on the property again, the police would be called. WHAT?????? This is crazy!!! It is robbery, he keeps our money and said we stole, we took 6 oz. of water!!! On another note, it is not even an Ameri host. It is privately owned, they are just using the amerihost name. Please do not stay here, It should not even be operating!!!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

“Only stay here if NO other option!!!”

I have been working in the area for about 2 months and if there were another option on hotels that bill companies directly then trust me I would NOT stay at this hotel!! A couple of the front desk staff are friendly and helpful, but most are not! The rooms are never what I feel constitute being "clean". By that I mean I have been put in a different room almost every week I have stayed there and have yet to go in a room and actually feel like it has been properly cleaned by housekeeping! This is a list of many things I have encountered: dried vomit down the sides of beds (in at least 3 different rooms), cigarette ashes on the ac unit and night stand in nonsmoking rooms, condom wrappers by the night stand, gum/ candy wrappers/ lent/ chunks of dirt/ cigarette butts on the floor. Almost every room is covered in dust and has dust bunnies dangling from the ceiling. They over charge for their rooms because there are so few options on staying in the town- that they feel they can! The "exercise area" is old wore out machines sitting in a hallway. They have an indoor pool and hot tub, but as unclean as the rooms are I refuse to use them because i doubt they are treated properly. There are signs everywhere telling workers to clean boots before entering- as if that is their greatest cleanliness problem- sorry to tell them but its not! The upstairs hallway has weak spots in the floors, as do the stairs going to the upper rooms. The trash is only dumped out of the bags in the trash cans in the rooms, the bags are not changed! Heaven forbid you ask for an extra towel, pillow, wash cloth, hand towel, box of tissues, or roll of toilet paper because first they act as tho you asking is a crime- and second you will never get it!! You couldn't pay me to drink from the scuzzy looking coffee pots! The hair dryers are yellowed and sticky, but it would take too much effort to clean them. I turn the beds back every stay expecting to find bed bugs or other creepy crawlies and Lysol has become my best friend! As I say unless you are as unfortunate as I am and have NO other choice- do NOT stay there!!!!

“Older motel but staff was friendly and helpful.”

We stayed here for 5 nights. Please don't expect Hampton Inn, etc. If you have to have a place to stay in the area, this one is the nicest. Pool area and hot tub were nice, however they sell pool passes to local residents and as soon as school let out, it was bombarded with kids. The breakfast consisted of 3 cereal choices and a few individually wrapped donuts, etc. OK. You are walking distance to Bob Evans and McDonalds if you want a hot breakfast. It appeared to be full capacity each night, I think a lot of well diggers and other workers stay here. I'll try to attach a picture from the front door addressing dirty boots. It's too funny. Don't plan to exercise inside unless you don't mind exercising in the hallway. Never seen a treadmill in a hall before. Overall it appeared to be clean but it is an older motel that smells like smoke. The staff was always nice, but from listening to conversations, the communication between owner and staff is not good. We never saw the owner. The "Choo Choo restaurant" is a cute cozy little restaurant opened 24 hours a day.
