We come to WV for Bridge Day every year. We had stayed in this place before and it was ok, but this year -- we rented three rooms, two had large blotches of black mold on the shower walls and ceiling, plus dirty carpets, dirty linens, soap but no shampoo, and one room they forgot the pillows (we had to get them at the front desk). When we arrived and tried to move in, we were told 'not before 3 pm' because room service was still busy cleaning up -- not with much success. We are going to look for another place next year. A copy of this goes to AAA who had recommended this place.

Although we requested a non-smoking room, it reeked of cigarette smoke. We had to walk through clouds of smoke to get into and out of the lobby. THe phone didn't work, so I had to walk back to the lobby to inquire if we really had a non-smoking room, and again to get the user name and password for the free wifi. When we returned to our room following breakfast, the cleaning lady was in our room - although we had clearly NOT checked out yet. I also wasn't pleased when the people in front of me at check-in were charged $12 less than us, although we were supposed to be getting the best rate available. The room was reasonable clean and comfortable, although noisy with paper thin walls.

Cigarette butts were everywhere near the entrance and then I remembered we had stayed here once before and the room was filthy But it was late and starting to rain, I remembered the black goop on the drapes the size of a skillet. This is in a construction area and is infested with construction workers who don't care where they lay their head. The girl behind the counter had /Chinese take-out on the check in counter and two of her local friends were visiting. I immediately noticed they accepted pets - the coupon specifically stated they did not - she said they must have changed their policy. Inside the office behind the desk were a nasty pair of sneaker in plain site. We do not stay at PET MOTELS. On line it still states today October 3, 2011, they do not accept pets. I asked for a non smoking, non pet room and was given room 103. Walked in and there was the black goop spot on the drapes (we were here less than a year before) and black marks on the walls and a cigarette hole on one sheet, gunk on the nightstand - I had checked for bedbugs and found no sign of them.

The room was big enough...the bathroom was clean enough...the free breakfast was delicious enough. We only stayed here to be close to ACE Resorts for white water rafting...it was about 15 minutes away...and to be close to other civilization (there is a mall, movie theatre, and plenty of restaurants all under 10 minutes away) It also helped that we found a roomsavers coupon for $51.95 at a nearby rest area.

Breakfast included doughnuts, cereal, breads, coffee, juices, and water.

There didn't seem to be any elevators in the two story hotel...but I could be wrong about that. Our room was upstairs...a no-smoking king size bed...but we smelled smoke in the hallways getting to our room...but understand that we didn't smell it in our room thankfully.
