“Parents Beware!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We went to visit family for Christmas and decided to stay here on the way home as a quick stop. The room was okay, staff was nice and the biggest plus was that it is situated next to a police precinct. You get what you pay for. The hotel reeked of marajuana, not a place I will stay again with my toddler. Parents beware! Next trip we will be trying a hotel near the mall. They looked a lot nicer and cleaner.

“Just OK”

Stayed at this property with 2 friends. Okay for one night. It was old and run down but passable.

“Just Run Down and Nasty”

This hotel is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever spent a night in, and I’ve traveled quite a bit in my life. Having had good experiences at other super 8’s I felt this one would be OK. Besides I was dead tired, it was midnight, I needed a place that took pets, and this hotel was right off the interstate. Check in was a hassle. I asked for a non smoking room. They gave me a smoking room. I went back to ask for a different room and was told that was the only room he had. I went back to the room grabbed my stuff and went back to the front desk to ask for a refund. The clerk’s wife/ sister was at the desk when I returned the second time, and she quickly gave me the key to a different room without an argument. Not sure what the problem was the first guy I talked to. At any rate, the hallways were dimly lit and littered with trash. When I opened the door to the room I was hit in face by the smell of an orange scented clearer that was so strong it nearly knocked me over. I had to wonder what smell they were trying to cover up. I had to open the window and let the room air out for an hour or so (It was about 40 F out). All of the furnishing, fixtures, linens, etc are run down and I can’t vouch for their cleanliness. The vents on the window unit were broken, bent and filthy. Only about half of the lights in the room worked. The free breakfast was pretty sparse and I didn’t even bother with it.

“Would book somewhere else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

The room smelled really bad, got better once the air went on. Was really run down. We stayed in Super 8's for 4 nights and this was the worst one we encountered.

“Disgusting! Dirty and Smelly. Will NEVER stay there again.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2009

I foolishly made a non-refundable reservation without checking reviews first. My husband had stayed there before, many years ago, and thought it was an ok hotel and Super 8s USED to be decent hotels at a budget price. However, the last 2 times I've stayed at Super 8s they were both horrible. (A mistake I'll not make again.)

As soon as we pulled into the parking lot it was apparent this place was rundown but we didn't have a lot of options. It was Thanksgiving day and the reservation was non-refundable. The lobby was dingy and run-down. It smelled like B.O. The checkin clerk was friendly enough, but when we left the desk I walked into the hall and stopped to review the 'local attractions' brochure rack...I'd only been out of sight of the clerk for 2 seconds when he let out this disgusting, loud belch that lasted about 30 seconds.

We tread on up the dirty-carpeted staircase and down the poorly lit, smelly hallway to our room at the end of the hall. My first visit is to the bathroom (it had been a long trip!). I see a dirty towel hanging on the hook behind the door. After washing my hands I reach for a "clean" towel off the rack -- it's filthy. A quick check reveals they are all filthy-- not only dingy, but stained and disgusting. One had clearly been used recently to wipe someone's face; you could see the mascara smudges. Another had apparently been used for wiping oily/greasy hands as you could still see the handprints. Another looked like it had recently been used for "flossing". I immediately go downstairs and ask for clean towels, telling the desk clerk that the towels in our room were filthy. He says only "ok", disappears into the back and reappears with "clean" towels. I go back to the room, look at the towels, they're not much better than the first ones --- possibly laundered, at least, but still nasty and stained. I go back downstairs again. This time a different clerk, a woman. I again request CLEAN towels. She disappears/reappears and this time I receive towels that actually appear clean and white (as opposed to dingy yellow).

I go back upstairs to the room, turn down the bedspread and there's a big bug crawling across the pillow. I continue to peel back the bedspread and see about a 6x6 area of brown smudges, relatively fresh. I honestly don't know if it's feces or chocolate -- but based on my experience so far, my money's on the former. I drag the bedspread to the floor and inspect the rest of the bedding. It does appear to at least be freshly laundered but there are still stains and small holes in/on the sheets and blanket.

I haven't even mentioned the smell yet. When we first arrived in the room, I wondered why the window was open even though it was only about 40 degrees outside. I closed the window and turned on the heat. By the time I finished with the towel and bed fiasco, the room was warm and then the smell was really bad. I turned off the heat and re-opened the window. Luckily, I happened to have a can of febreze in my car, which helped.

The walls were dirty, the tub was covered in gray stains and the drain had this chalky corrosion looking stuff around it. There was an easy chair in the room that looked comfortable, but I didn't dare sit in it. We really wanted to get another hotel but this one was paid for and the others were booked up. I contemplated sleeping in the car. Thankfully, at least the sheets and pillow cases were not totally disgusting. However, I slept in my clothes and put my shoes on whenever I got out of bed to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I have stayed in plenty of economy hotels (Days Inn, Knights Inn, Super 8s, etc.) All I really require is that the place be CLEAN. This hotel was NOT.

To top it off, when I went to check out the next morning I go to the lobby only to find a "we'll be back later" sign. I wait for 5 or 10 mins, ringing the doorbell periodically -- nothing. I call the desk from my cell phone. It goes to voicemail. Although interestingly, I can't hear a phone ringing anywhere near the desk. Finally a young girl, maybe 9 yrs old, comes to the desk. Very polite young lady, asks what I need. I tell her I want to check out and she asks for my room key. I ask her to go find an adult. She disappears into the back and shortly the woman from yesterday appears. We go through the checkout process, she asks if everything was alright. I say "no" and go through the above story (minus the part about the guy belching like a pig). She jots down some notes and says the manager will call me. That was Friday morning, it's now Saturday evening and I haven't heard from him/her, but didn't really expect to.

I would absolutely NOT stay here again. I would've rated it a ZERO but the form forced me to choose at least a one.
