“Sleep in your Car instead of here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

Stopped here on the way to Charlotte with my elderly mother. At 2:00 in the mornging the fire alarm went off. We evacuated the room. The hotal's management never came around to tell us we go back into the room, we were informed by another guest. Then the alarm went off again about another 1/2 hour later. It appears that there was a party on the 2nd floor, and they pulled off a sprinkler head, and water was running down the walls. The personnel was rude and not helpful at all. I should have slept in my car.

“Noisy and shabby”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Stayed here for 2 nights last weekend. Price was okay - typical for Day's Inn. We usually like Day's Inn and had recently stayed in a great one in Salida, CO. However, I would not recommend this one. It was shabby. Looked like the room had been spot-redone in recent years (carpeting looked fairly new and draperies). However, furniture was scratched and old, bedspreads were faded and the old quilted type but worst of all was the bathroom. Mold on ceiling in one corner, grouting in tiles black and missing in spots, wallpaper coming down (why do they put wallpaper in hotel bathrooms???). But the absolute worst part was the jet-engines that started up around 5 am both mornings we were there! That is what they sounded like but it was only the plumbing!! Every time someone beside us or above us ran their water, it made a tremendous roaring noise let a jet engine! Woke both my husband and me up each morning around 5 am when our neighbors got going! It was horrible. WOuld not recommend this particular Day's Inn although, as I said, we have stayed in some excellent ones as well. Staff not particularly friendly or helpful either. Breakfast so-so.

Room Tip: Might help to request top floor on end so you only have one neighbor!

“OK for the money but nothing special”

Stopped here on our way to NY state. Just needed a place to stay. Not at all familiar w/ the area & no previous internet research for hotels. Easy access, right off the interstate. Stopped at another hotel across the parking lot. Room was $130 & no breakfast. Went into Days Inn across from first place. AARP rate was $69 King, non-smoking, incl. free breakfast. Parking lot NOT well lighted & somewhat fearful of possessions left in car overnight. Luckily nothing taken. Car OK. Place looked a little old so I asked how new the room was (most recent refurbish). Clerk said the king rooms were only about 4 mo. old since they just added 'king' beds to property. Night desk clerk very pleasant. No complaints about her. Lobby dark & somewhat depressing. Room was OK. Seemed to be new carpet & bedding. Some light bulbs burned out. All were CFL's which I use at home but these were very low wattage & room was dimly lit. Husband wanted to watch NFL draft but that particular cable channel was NOT working. Called front desk. Clerk said it was 'out' for some reason but could not remedy. Other stations working fine. Surprised to find iron & ironing board in Days Inn. Had in room coffee. Didn't use it. The bedroom had a very weak floor. Seriously! When you walked across the room at the foot of the bed, the floor vibrated & squeaked like an old wooden floor which shook the TV armoire. Later while trying to sleep, we could hear the people on the 3rd floor walking around. The walls were paper thin & we could hear people in other rooms. The bathroom was a bit shabby. The wallpaper in there was dirty & the grout in the tile was dingy. The breakfast was an ordinary continental breakfast...muffins, bagels, pastry, 4 kinds of cereal, bread for toast, coffee, juice. I can't remember if it had a waffle maker or not. We were looking for a low cost place to sleep & got it but I would not stay again. I'd rather pay a little more & get something a bit nicer. We stayed at a Fairfield Inn in VA on the return trip & it was worth $20 more to stay there.

Room Tip: Ask for room recently remodeled.

“Grubby”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

I am in the USA from England on Business. I spent one week at the Days Inn. The staff are nice people and very helpful.
However the general state of the hotel is grubby. The rooms are not very clean, serious dust in all the corners of my room. Also behind the TV cabinet and chests of drawers.
The laundry area and washing machine/drier are in a filthy condition.
The last straw for me was when lying in bed last Saturday a very large live bug landed on me. Considering it is January and is very cold here, I would not expect live bugs of any kind.
Finally, the free breakfast is the absolute basic that could be served. The toaster only toasts one side of the bread. It also trips the electricity supply when the microwave is used at the same time.
This hotel needs a refurb or at least a very thorough top to bottom clean up.
