“Worked great for a one night stop on our way to SC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2010

Check-in was efficient. The room was clean. Wifi worked well. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The bathroom had recently been refurbished. The location worked well for our overnight stop on the way to South Carolina. The continental breakfast was more than adequate. It would be a good idea to get dinner before arrival since you either need to get back on the toll highway ($2 each way) or order a pizza in. A lot of bang for the buck! Will stay there again...

“Never stay Here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

We stayed here while traveling to Virginia. When researching motels, it seemed like this would be a good place to stop for the night. I was appalled when arriving. There was an Adult Book store that shared the same parking lot as the hotel. There hotel in not near any eating establishments, so when we wanted food we had to pay the toll twice. The staff was nice, but my room rate changed once I arrived. They say they have 24 hr checkin but, I was charged extra. When we called the front desk for towels, we had to go get them ourselves. All in all I would never stay at this hotel again.

“Not for kids!”

Knights Inn in Ghent WV, is not the place you want to stay if you are travling with you family are might be esily offended. Right in front of the hotel is an Adult Superstore, which sells porno movies and mags, along with toys and even has video veiw rooms. For my wife and I it did not bother us but some people might not like have a porn shop right out the window. Othen then that the hotle was alright not at the top of my list to stay at again, but would if that was where I was heading. The room was big and nicely kept. The showers was about normal, we did have to ask for shampoo thought. Bed was king sized and very comfortable, but the pillows were flat. The breakfast could have been better, all we had to chose from was bagels, muffins and oatmeal, juice and coffee. No HBO or any movie channles. All in all a 3.

“Too expensive for such basic accomodations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2010

Although this is right at the Interstate exit and only a mile from Winterplace Ski Resort, I was somewhat hesitant and disappointed at the overall conditions. Glad we only planned to stay one night.

Granted, it had been snowing for weeks, but the driveway and lot was poorly maintained and I was not sure if the holes in the drive and parking lot were from Ice chunks not yet removed or just potholes, but I was glad I was in a 4x4. I think there was at least one light mounted on the front of the building to illuminate the parking area, which is all in the front.

The Adult entertainment store in the ajoining lot did not give me a safe assurance and the lobby of the hotel, which is starkly basic and needed the windows cleaned, has the stench of years of stale cigarette smoke that gags you as you enter.

The staff was curteous and the room was clean, although very basic. The beds were comfortable and we slept well, although I made sure the extra locks were secured. I would say most of the rooms were occupied with what appeared to be normal groups and families.

Although the ad says Continental breakfast, at 9:20 AM, I did not see anything in the lobby area that resembled breakfast and honestly could not remember if it included such and did not ask, since it would have been in the area of the stale cigarette stench and we were not particularly interested in eating there.

Although there are a couple of quick marts with gas about 1/2 mile away, you will have to drive a distance to find any restaurants. We drove into Beckley which is about 16 miles away to meet with our group for dinner.

“Close to Winterplace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2010

Nice motel off of the highway that's cheaper than the hotels right by Winterplace. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and towels and soap were provided, but no shampoo or conditioner. Parking lot was very large and well-lit. The free breakfast was small and consisted of mini bagels and oatmeal.
