First time staying at this property. I am actually a little torn about writing this review. I had a great stay at this hotel. The service and location is top-notch. But...the hotel is definitely aging. I was told that some of the top floors are being remodeled--with many floors completed. I think this property had like 16 or 18 floors. I stayed on the 7th.
Service...was absolutely above and beyond. I noticed how many of the staff called regular guests by their name. I spent a fair amount of time just sitting in the lobby accessing the wirless internet because I could not get good connection in my room (another bummer). I was on the last room on the hall.
All of the staff that I interacted with were smiling and pleasant. They always wanted to try and accomodate your needs.
Location is fabulous as well. directly across the street from the Town Center Mall. For the shoppers, this place will meet your needs. Very large shopping selection and a great food court on the top level. You are also within walking distance of the Civic Center if you are attending an event there as well. There is a large parking garage immediately to the right of the hotel for guests.
This is a full service hotel with a couple of good restaurants. You also have a kiosk in the lobby which served coffee, drinks, bagels, muffins, etc...in the mornings. Tons of meeting space and conference space as well.
I am torn because the rooms themselves are just not elite-level status. Granted, my room was very clean. But this property must be in the 30-40 year old range. yes, I could be way off but it simply seemed dated.
Room was a little on the smaller side compared to some. Bathroom was clearly lagging behind and needing of updating. Shower was small. Just noticed the older wallpaper in the room and the countertops were not the updated finishings that you normally see at a Marriott property. Going back to my original comment, I heard the place is under a renovation. I hoep this is the case. It could use a face-lift.
The sitting chair in the room (I had a King) was older. One positive was the bedding was above-average. The only other issue I would mention were the paper-thin walls. And I mean very thin. As I walked down the halls, I could hear the TV's in just about every room. I could easily hear every cell phone conversation going on in each room. I could foresee an issue if you had a noisy traveller next door to you.
So...all in all, this is an above-average hotel. But the rooms themselves are not up to elite status. The service and location makes this hotel a top choice.
