I stayed at E.S. last year and will do so again for my yearly convention. I have read the other reviews and have to note, that they must have gotten the exception to the rule. My room was very well cleaned and the staff was very accommodating. I used to own a commercial janitorial business, so I would say I can be very picky. However, the rooms met my standards and I was well pleased. I must also note that I am partially wheelchair bound due to health issues and they made sure to help me. The lobby is very beautiful and well laid out. I love the fact the Mall is directly across the street. I plan to stay there again and again!

We stay here when traveling to see our families. Charleston is beautiful and the location of the hotel is close to shopping and food choices. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The shower is a little weird. It gives the illusion of a walk in by using a half glass wall, but it is regular size and water gets everywhere. We were on the top floor and had a nice quiet stay. The manager's reception and breakfast are worth the stay.

Although the rooms are clean and large the decor and finishings are very tired. On the upside the staff are friendly and helpful and the location is reasonable but the walls are thin and the rooms need a makeover!!

Let me first say that this hotel is overall good if not very good. However, sometimes a few negatives, especially when it comes to cleanliness can really kill a good hotel.

Pros:
Rooms were spacious and decently lit. TV's up to date and good selection. Hotel staff was very friendly. Daily breakfast was very good and managers reception was as well. Being a holiday week there were some crowds at the buffets but the hotel was well prepared and stocked to handle.

Fitness room not much to write home about and like many hotels was too warm.

HVAC system was not very loud but also not very cool (winter say, I like my rooms cold).
Beds were great, best hotel sleep I ever had.

Business center was good for printing docs and faxing without trouble.

Negatives:
Cleanliness and upkeep. As I wrote above, a few details can kill a positive review.
The furniture was old and rickety.
No desk level power sockets.
Stained curtains and chair cushions.
Torn lampshade.
A little hair on back of one pillow (not biggest deal).
Carpeting was not clean around edges. You could see areas of extreme dust as well as certain edges had tons of glitter. Please get your cleaners a proper vacuum attachment!

Parking - $12 a day!!!!
