My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant stay. The inn is very comfortable and nicely appointed, with comfortable furniture in the guest rooms and living room, a nice front porch with rocking chairs, and wide lawns complete with gazebo. It is far from everything, tucked at the end of a gravel road amidst rolling hills of forest and crops (in contrast to other well-rated inns in the area, located in the hearts of Shepherdstown, Charles Town, etc.). Barbara greeted us warmly, offering a brief house tour and bottles of water, and ushering us to our room (room 2, which is quite large and comfy for both sleeping and sitting). The full breakfast featured fresh-squeezed OJ, coffee, fruit dish, hot biscuits, and eggs-to-order served with hash browns and sausage. Although the inn does not feature internet access, my hosts offered me access to their wifi or to use a computer in their offices if I wished. The Cottonwood Inn is a good value and a nice place for a getaway, and we will consider it again the next time we travel to the Charles Town area.
