We knew this was the right choice when we stepped out of the car after the short drive from town. Standing by the car, there was not a sound to be heard. Just quietness. Perfect. It was worth being away from town where constant truck traffic can be heard from most places. Entering the house, we were immediately warmed by the rustic log walls, a nice contrast to the crisp air of a December day. Dale greeted us and appreciated that we were punctual, checked us in and gave a thorough review of the room and amenities. We stayed in the Wild and Wonderful room which although not large, was amply large and cozy enough for the two of us. The electric fireplace provided plenty of additional heat for us when needed. The inn is exceptionally clean. The jacuzzi tub was a great amenity and we enjoyed it. This room with the white walls is more modern than the adjacent Almost Heaven room with the exposed log walls and stone fireplace. We would love to go back and stay in Almost Heaven. We stayed two nights and took time to hike the land behind the house and enjoy the creek that cut between two hillsides. Breakfast both days was tasty, hearty, and simple: eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and jellies with orange juice and tea and some fruit. Our bed was on the firm side and we like more padding, but that's our preference. Beds in other rooms probably vary. The costs are comparable to most places in Berkeley Springs from what I can tell. Added bonus here is you don't have "city" noises and traffic. The drive into town is quick and actually quite scenic if you take some of the alternate roads. Dale and Linda provided very hospitable and attentive service. We would stay there again.
