“One night was enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

I decided to give this hotel a try mainly because it was cheaper than the others nearby. I got what I paid for and realized I'd rather spend a few extra bucks for a room that I felt more comfortable in. I cancelled my reservation for my stay the following weekend and went elsewhere.

The signs for the hotel entrance were large enough but it certainly helped to know to look for the Dairy Queen out front. Unfortunately that Dairy Queen has a drive-thru and it was very busy on a Saturday night so there was constant noise from vehicles. Being on a main road, you also hear the regular traffic.

As other travelers stated, the bed was definitely not a queen size and if I would've had to share it, I would not have been happy. The room itself was clean enough as was the bathroom. Toiletries included 2 little shampoos and 2 bars of generic soap.

The air conditioner was another issue. There was one temperature and one fan speed which was cold and high no matter what you set the dial to. It was so loud it drowned out the TV so I turned it off. Luckily it wasn't a hot night.

My personal preference is to stay in a room with doors that lead to a hallway on the inside and this was not the case here. I was on the ground floor with my car parked outside the door and could hear people talking/laughing as they went by until well after midnight. It creeped me out to have some strange men hanging over the railing on the floor above, watching me get things out of my car, going for ice, etc.

I was anxious to get out of there in the morning so I didn't bother looking at the continental breakfast. There was a coffee pot in the room but I decided against using it.

“Good for the price”

We stayed one night there. We thought it was good for the price. The hotel looks old but beds were clean and comfy. The rooms at the back were kind of creepy because of the bushes and the cemetery.

“OK place to stay”

The hotel was cheap and we were needing a place to stay to visit an ill relative in the hospital down the road. The room itself was clean but the bed linens had not been changed. The beds were made but the sheets has hair on them when the covers were turned back. The problem was fixed once the front desk was notified but it should have never happened.

“Don't stay here ... stay at Comfort Inn or Hampton Inn”

Stayed in room 77 , over office. You can't see out the window because of condensation between the window panes. The air conditioning unit has nasty stuff around the air outlet.
The TV is ancient with a non-intuitive remote and no instructions. The toilet didn't flush well. The bed, the reason one stays at a motel is to sleep, was the second most awful bed I have ever slept on . LUMPY, low at the head and low at the feet. Room is tiny by any southern/eastern USA standards. I selected this motel because my friends had selected this place based on price. Management offered no discount for the poor conditions. Only and "I'm sorry." I wish I had known I could share photos of this . Yuck .

“Good place, great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

We stopped here on our way north after seeing a promotional coupon in a travel info booklet. We were greeted in a down-home, friendly way, the place was clean and comfortable, wifi worked, cable worked, and the breakfast was better than average for these days. The next day, when 300 miles farther north, I realized I'd left a shirt in the room. When I called, I found the same friendly attitude, was told that it was in lost-and-found and that they would send it to wherever I wanted it sent. "What's the charge?" I asked and she said I owed nothing, that's just what they do. Two weeks later when on our way south again we decided to stop there again. It was every bit as friendly and clean as before. I feel it is one of the best deals we've encountered in many years of traveling and motel-hopping. Only one complaint: the entrance to the place is squeezed between a gas station and a restaurant making it a tricky place to find and get into and out of. Otherwise it is perfect.
