“Excellent stay in old Port Townsend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

The Eissingers did everything to make our two night stay a pleasant one: from the home-cooked breakfast each morning, the warm reception, and the advice about the PT area and the nearby Olympic National Park. The Victorian Home was well-appointed, the rooms comfortable and clean. There were home-made snacks in the parlor for the guests to enjoy. We had a first-floor room with an oyster-shaped bath which was perfect in the evening. Downtown Port Townsend is a short walk away and offers a range of culinary, musical, and shopping possibilities along with waterfront spots to while away the evening and watch the sun set. Would definitely return to the Blue Gull.

“Great place to stay in Port Townsend”

The Blue Gull is not one of the big, classic Victorian houses in Port Townsend, so it doesn't impress as much as some others from the outside, but it is lovely inside. Our nice size room was on the main floor. It had a large bathroom and off the bathroom is a sunporch, which was an ideal place to store our bicycles. There are books and games in the common area, a large living room to relax in, and a very large dining room where breakfast is served, and where coffee, hot water for tea, and cookies are always available. The breakfast was excellent. It's a short walk down the hill to the main part of town where most of the restaurants and shops are, and a very short walk to the main uptown area which also has shops and restaurants. This is a an excellent value choice and a quiet and relaxing getaway.

“A fantastic home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

John and his wife are lovely people with an equally lovely home! I stayed at the Blue Gull in mid-July for four nights and I absolutely adored it. Cozy, clean, well-maintained and very welcoming, the Blue Gull in feels like a home away from home. They leave out tea, coffee and hot chocolate all day round, along delicious home-baked goodies. There's a beautiful living room in which they often play classical music and guests are welcome to rest here. I stayed in the Garden Room and the bed was beyond comfortable. I would recommend that they leave a pitcher of drinking water out along with all of this. But in short, this place is worth every penny - and unlike a lot of other places in town, it's NOT haunted. Oh, and you're less than a 5-minute walk to the main street that runs through town.

“Last Minute Res”

Since we travelled from Ohio via Amtrak, we made our reservations on the fly. Blue Gull took care of us the day before. Nice greeting and tour from John, where he let us have our choice of two rooms, which we selected the upstairs room with the larger bath. Bed was comfy, shower hot, room quiet. House and room were nicely decorated with period antiques. We enjoyed the snacks and the breakfast was great. We liked to never depart since Dawn had a connection with Renee in that they are both quilters. Also made great friends with our fellow travellers. We really enjoyed Port Townsend and may be using John's service as a realtor in the future. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

“quiet, comfortable and pleasant guests”

We were there for just one night but enjoyed our stay in an upstairs room. Very much like home and quiet. The other guests were friendly without being obtrusive. Enjoyed the delicious chocolate ship cookies and tea and coffee left out for guests. Breakfast hit the spot. And enjoyed to opportunity to meet all the other guests on the opportunity.

Room Tip: We liked the top back room and would ask for it again. Room 2
