“Wonderful weekend getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We spent New Year's eve in Port Townsend at the McCurdy Inn. Perched on a hill overlooking old PT, the gorgeously maintained 1860s home offers stunning water views from its wrap-around porch. Kathleen is the ultimate innkeeper. In addition to being a congenial hostess, she makes delicious breakfasts, chills champagne, refills your carafe with fresh water, provides hot tea and loves to share information about the area. If you are musically inclined, there is an antique piano at your disposition.

It is cold in PT at this time of the year but the electric fireplace kept our room toasty. The bed was comfortable with soft sheets and plenty of blankets and pillows. At this time, Kathleen is only renting two rooms. We stayed in the main floor room, which was very quiet. There is also the carriage house that overlooks the backyard garden.

Breakfast at the inn makes staying here a special experience. In town, you could expect to pay $30 - $40 for a similar breakfast. At McCurdy House, you get a choice of juice, coffee, tea, appetizer and main course. On our first day, we had poached apple with french toast. On the second day, we had yogurt parfait with quiche. Kathleen accommodates dietary preferences - just let her know if you prefer meat or no meat.

The Inn is within walking distance to old town's shops and restaurants. Nearby is Alchemy, an intimate wine bar that offers chocolate martinis, flights of port and scrumptious appetizers.

I highly recommend booking in advance if you plan to stay during peak season and special events (like Wooden Boat Festival). Enjoy your stay!

“Absolutely Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

When my wife told me we were going to Port Townsend for the a little over night get away I was hesitant about the idea. She found this B&B and took care of all the arrangements, and from the moment we pulled up I knew it was perfect. The house is beautiful before you ever get inside and has the most wonderful view from the porch. The inside of the house is equally as beautiful, with fabulously decorated rooms that really bring out the character of the house. Across the street were the stairs down to the town, which besides being beautiful and charming provided a little exercise as well. With all that said, none of it would be possible without Kathleen. She is an absolutely wonderful hostess, who loves her "job" if she would even call it that. We were getting away for the night as we have a young child, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. In fact I didn't want to get out, I felt you could just sink into it and get cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, what a cook she is! She was very respectful of our space, but I am very chatty as my wife would say, and so we talked all through breakfast. It was very enjoyable to hear about her experiences, why she runs the place and swap general life stories. I would not hesitate to go back, and in fact I am hoping that we can soon. I would 100% recommend it to anyone who wants to get away and wants something different than the traditional hotel experience. As others have said, you will NOT be disappointed.

Room Tip: The upstairs will give you an awesome view, however from what I could tell every room was unique and...

“Perfect choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Everything about this B and B exceeded our expectations! We had a lovely room upstairs with a spectacular view. The location was incredible! The main stairs to town are conveniently located just across the street, leading to incredible restaurants and unique shops. Upon arrival we were greeted by bubbly, sweet Kathleen. She made us feel so welcome and was available to answer any questions we might have about Port Townsend. She was a wealth of knowledge with great restaurant suggestions. The morning breakfast she served in her beautiful dining room was delicious. Every detail was appreciated, what a beautiful inviting room she served us in. We were so sorry to have to leave before breakfast the next morning. That night we were extra sad when lying in bed we could smell the delicious aroma of something baking! However, in a brown bag by the door upon our early morning exit, Kathleen had packed us a breakfast to go! It was so delicious and considerate. I highly recommend this Inn, it will not disappoint!

Room Tip: Best view ever from the upstairs room.

“Wonderful Inn in a wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

Everything about this property is wonderful. The house is an 1860's Victorian, renovated enough to have the comforts you want (unless you want central heat) but still retaining the charm you want when staying in a historical property. The grounds and interior are charming, the views romantic, and the ministrations of Inn Keeper Kathleen Rowe gracious and warm. The Inn is a very short walk from the heart of old Port Townsend, allowing you to really feel connected with the village; close to water, restaurants, shops and historical points of interest. It appears that Port Townsend host a variety of arts and music events throughout the year, but we were lucky enough to be in town for the annual Kinetic Sculpture Race. We enjoyed ourselves beyond our expectations and I'm seriously thinking about attending next year's race. This event is truly a labor of love by the town and it showed.

Room Tip: All the rooms are charming. Two of the three rooms have clear ocean views. The property may not have...

“Weekend Get-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Inn at McCurdy House has a wonderful location up on the hill above downtown Port Townsend. It is an easy walk down some stairs and you are in the middle of cafes, shops, art galleries, kayaking, paddle boarding, and the best ice cream on the Peninsula, Elevated Ice Cream. Do not miss the Saturday Farmers Market in uptown or Sweet Laurette's for breakfast, lunch or dinner..
