“A hotel with a difference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011 via mobile

The Palace is a restored hotel themed to take you back 100 years. If you want something different from the usual cookie cutter hotel chain, this is a great place to stay.

It has a lovely warm feeling, is full of character and the staff are very helpful.

This is a delightful place to stay and if you're looking for nostalgia and a great, romantic setting this is perfect.

“Nice hotel but room was noisy.”

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. Our room was upstairs and was very nice. However across the street was a bar/nightclub which was playing VERY loud music. This aseriously diminished our enjoyment of the hotel. Do NOT stay on the side street side of the hotel. Having said that, the service was very good and we found the hotel to charming. Probably a clittle pricey for a tourist but good for special occasions. It is very close to good restaraunts and shops.

Room Tip: Stay away from side street rooms.

“Great Room”

My husband and I recently stayed in the Miss Kitty room at the Palace Hotel with our Siamese cat and had a great time! Yes, it's a bit of a hike up the stairs to the third floor, but well worth it if you're up to it! The location is great, the windows in the room are wonderful, the bed was comfortable, and the sheets were excellent! I recommend this hotel (and specifically this room) to travelers.

Room Tip: Miss Kitty room must have the best view in town. The room is pink, but don't let that bother yo...

“Original charming hotel”

We arrived a day earlier than planned for our stay at the Palace hotel so that we could relax and enjoy the remainder of our holiday, Gerry on reception was most accomodating. Whilst we couldn't have the room we booked for the remainder of our stay he offered us an alterative and we just had to leave our luggage packed the next morning & they moved everything for us whilst we were out.
Although the stairs to the rooms were steep, the accomodation was of a very high standard and immaculately clean. The owner & staff were most hospitable and friendly, offering advice & tips on where to eat, drink and visit. Bob even got us some wine glasses and an alternative corkscrew (when the one we bought failed to do the task) so we enjoyed a glass of vino in the evening in the lounge areas. Thank you all (John, Gerry & Bob)
Magical stay & we hope to return one day.

Room Tip: Room 11(Miss Kitty) is truly wonderful with corner view and really large bathroom

“Lots of stairs!!”

We checked into the Palace Hotel on a Sunday afternoon. The town is very quiet, just a few blocks of shopping. The hotel is right in the middle of all of the shopping and restaurants, so it is very convenient. Our room was on the top floor, up a huge staircase. There was no offer of help with our bags. Our room was pretty cool, decorated in a victorian theme. Due to the huge staircase, we did get a nice view of main street in town, and over the roofs to the water and ferry. The comfort level of the room was average. The room was huge and there was a small kitchenette. There is no restaurant or lounge associated with the hotel, but there are several places nearby. I would stay again, but maybe ask for a room on the lower floors! A little pricey for what you get, but otherwise enjoyable.
