We stayed in the Bosc room in the newer building for four nights. The room was just shy of being perfect. It was spacious, beautifully appointed (hard wood floors with an oriental rug), had a very comfortable bed, four windows, French doors to the deck, and a large and lovely bathroom. The view of their farm/meadow with the hills in the background was lovely and peaceful. The only criticism I have of the room was the lack of blackout window treatments. The shades were very pretty, and it would have been tough to do blackout treatments without losing the delicacy of the shades, but the room was bright and sunny in the morning, so unless that kind of light doesn’t bother you, bring eye shades or just get up.
The breakfasts were good but not as good as the room. The homemade granola, which I ate with yogurt, was great. The small fruit salad was nice. The hot dishes were decent but not particularly elegant or distinctive. The best one we had were lovely fluffy pancakes. Sitting out on the deck eating breakfast was a pleasure, and the service (including owners Susan and Bill) was great.
I have never seen a B&B room made up so quickly as here. We would go to breakfast at 8:00 a.m., and upon our return, maybe 30-60 minutes later depending, our room was already made up. It’s terrific to come back to a clean room before you’ve even left for the day.
We didn’t see much of Susan and Bill during our stay, but I’m sure if we had had questions, they would have been happy to answer them. We didn’t get the feeling that they were unhelpful, just not affirmatively inquisitive about any needs we might have. Their grandson Jason was able to answer any questions we had, anyway, and he provided several recommendations for hikes.
Overall, the positives so far outweigh the few minor negatives that the property well deserves a top rating. We were sorry to leave and would happily stay there again.
