“Old school charm on the beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We stayed here for a quick weekend trip to bring our dogs to the beach. We stayed in a pet-friendly studio on the 1st floor. I guess my only disappointment was that there are no pet-friendly studios on the upper floors with an ocean view, but presumably that is up to the individual condo owners so not something the hotel could address directly. It was nice to have the sliding door right out to the back lawn for quick dog potty trips!

Everyone was very friendly and we had no problems with the room or the pet rules. Our room had a nice flat-screen TV with a VHS and DVD player. The kitchenette was nice but we did not do a lot of cooking--just Pop Tarts and reheating pizza. The mini-fridges are really small. I would not come here expecting to do a lot of cooking and stocking of groceries unless the larger suites have full-size fridges.

The bed was comfortable; my husband liked that the mattress did not jostle him every time I turned over!

This is a nice basic place for a Washington coast beach trip. The hotel is one of the original ones along the beach; it is not luxury in terms of high-thread-count sheets or TVs in a huge bathroom but it is good value for the money.

Good news. As of Dec 3, 2011 we now have one third floor studio which has been made into a dog allowed room. We will continue to try and get a few more as time goes on.

“Room with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

Stayed one night in 1bdrm suite- which includes full kitchen/fireplace. Check in was friendly and efficient and clerk very helpful in attending to our needs. Suite was clean and met expectations as to size/amenities. Great ocen view from balcony with approx 10min walk through sand dunes to beach. Pretty much the staple for this area. Our visit was mid week in off season and this greatly impacted both price (very favourable) and number of guests. Had no issue accessing pool or hot tub. Only minus comment would be that water temp of hot tub was well below normal expectations and actually about same temp as the pool. Overall we enjoyed our visit and would return to this hotel if we visited Ocean Shore in the future.

Room Tip: Selct 3rd floor suites if you want ocean view

Thank you for your favorable comments. In regards to the hot tub I am guessing there had been some maintenance done that day for it is normally kept at 102 degrees and the pool at 90. Hope to see you again soon.

“Great place, pet friendly”

Canterbury Inn was a great place to stay, we had a pet friendly room. The room seemed very clean, and roomy with a kitchenette. The carpets could use a good steam cleaning but the fact that we were there right after Labor day weekend, I can understand that. We had a great stay and loved Cafe Amici restaurant and a little shop across the street called "One Wacky Woman".......the town itself could use a larger grocery store such as a Safeway with more selection....the IGA does not have a very good selection of food at all...we will stay at Canterbury Inn again.

“As nice on the inside as on the outside”

Definitely worth spending a little more money to have some comfort. Room was very clean. Didn't feel like a cheap hotel. We couldn't hear our neighbors, which was great! Staff was very courteous. Wi-fi worked great. Pool was okay and the hot tub was fine. Be aware that after a certain time in the evening those under 18 are not allowed in the hot tub. Would definitely stay here again.
