I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past several years but this is my first review of it. I have always been very pleased with it. It is situated right next to the Museum of Flight but, I have never visited the museum so do not know much about it. The hotel is conveniently located for access to the extensive Boeing-Everett facilities. It is easy to get to and from most of the local Boeing facilities with minimal traffic tie ups. I suspect the majority of the hotel clientele is there on Boeing business.
The hotel is a fine facility and reasonably priced if you get a Boeing or government rate. It is relatively new, less than 10 years old if I recall correctly. In general, the hotel is first rate, clean, modern, well kept up with spacious rooms and quality furnishing. The staff is friendly and helpful. Check in and check out were quick and there were no hassles. The beds are high quality and the rooms include a work desk, mini refrigerator, and microwave. The internet service is included with the room. I didn’t do anything particularly demanding of it but it was fast, at least for my needs. You will need a car as there is no public transportation and there is nothing else close by other than the museum. A breakfast buffet is served adjacent to the lobby (not included). It is pretty decent but no great bargain. Given the lack of restaurants nearby, it is about your only option if you want breakfast and but do not want to spend a lot of time getting it.
In any of my past stays at this hotel, I would have given the hotel a 5-star rating. I simply found nothing negative on those visits. I did have a few minor complaints this time which resulted in a slight lower rating. I got in fairly late, was really tired, and still had some work to do before going to bed. Even though the room was non-smoking, there was a stale tobacco odor in the area around the work desk. The window was also open when I arrived like someone was trying to air out the room. I suspect the previous guest had snuck a smoke or two while working. I should have gone to the manager immediately and asked for another room. However, it was late, I was tired, and I had work to do. I just didn’t want to mess with it. I stayed two nights and by the time I left, the odor was pretty well gone or I had gotten accustomed to it. Since I didn’t give the management the opportunity to correct it, I really have not dinged the hotel too badly for this problem but did find it a bit aggravating.
There were a few other minor complaints. I think this was the first time I had a room facing the road. Even with the window closed, the road noise is noticeable, especially in the early morning when those of us from a few times zones to the east find it difficult to sleep anyway. The other side of the hotel faces the local airport which occasionally will result in some aircraft noise but I never found it too bothersome in past visits (but I like airplanes). In the future, I will ask for a room not facing the road. The carpet, especially in the halls, is starting to show just a bit of wear. I probably wouldn’t have noticed so much if I hadn’t been staying in the hotel since it was brand new. The ventilation in the room was marginal at best. You get accustom to it while you are in the room but when I would go down in the morning and eat breakfast and then come back into the room it smelled stuffy, like “dirty laundry,” and I didn’t have much dirty laundry to smell it up. With the road noise, it was not feasible to sleep with the window open. Looks like another hotel that has gone overboard on energy conservation at the expense of good ventilation, something that I see more and more.
All in all, I was happy with my experience and will stay there again on my next visit to the area. The convenience and overall good points far outweigh the negatives.
Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing road if a little road noise bothers you.
