We were on a week long trip all over WA and we stayed here for a visit to North Cascades Natl park. I chose this place because all other hotels/motels nearby were charging too much and it was a weekend with an event in Mt Vernon. We stayed in a very handful Days Inns before and for a reason. This was no exception.
We arrived very late after a long drive from Olympic peninsula through Seattle. It is loacted next to a Mexican restaurant which was really loud. I thought it is located near a strip mall or something. There is an entertainement center(may be a club) right in front. Since it was a weekend it was crowded. Even Days Inns parking lot was full. While I was checking In, a drunk lady approached my wife who was sitting in the car and was yelling with all the trash and crap. This went on for a while and my wife was a bit scared. Thankfully a man who was equally shady came to her rescue and took the loud-mouthed lady away. The location never looked safe especially at night and the parking was really in open.
Like some people already mentioned, when we entered the room we were greeted with some unpleasant pungent smell(probably from the worst cleaners). I could not take it a bit so i called the front desk. The front desk lady came and sprayed a room freshner all over the carpet. That seems to have worked for the night. Now comes the worst part. The bed sheets and the comforter were really old and worn out. That's not all. They even had holes in them like someone put a hole with a cigarette or something. We had two double beds and both of them were in the same condition. We were too tired to change the room. God only knows how we would have spent the night but thankfully the tiredness took us right into deep sleep. The icing on the cake came at the breakfast, if you can call it that. There were only few things at the breakfast but there were tiny black flies too on them. We didn't eat any of it. Thought waffle will come to the rescue but the waffles came too tasteless may be the mix was not right.
Summary is if you are really really tired and here for only a night then you can risk it. Otherwise just avoid the horror. Only good thing i noticed was the front desk lady. She was nice and polite.
