On our last trip to the north Seattle area, we stayed at HIE - Lynnwood (which was excellent). This time, the rate at La Quinta was $39 cheaper per night than HIE (over $40 savings after taxes). The most recent reviews for both hotels were essentially the same, so we tried La Quinta for the first time. La Quinta will now be our "Go-To" hotel in the north Seattle area.
Rooms and common areas were exceptionally clean. Pool was bigger, more varied (3' - 7'), better maintained than HIE, and had a large clean hot tub. Complimentary breakfasts were comparable. They also had 2 clean waffle machines. The eating area was exceptionally clean (even the floor) and was very nicely finished. The attendant was using a sweeper on the floor, even though I couldn't see any debris on the ground.
The beds were not as firm as HIE but were still very comfortable. The linens and blankets were 1/2 a step down from HIE but perfectly acceptable. The only other drawbacks of the property were that the hallways suffer from "white wall syndrome" and don't look as attractive as HIE hallways, and the TV in the room was a CRT.
Bottom line for me was I saved over $40 for one night for a property that, overall, was only 1/4 step down from HIE. If circumstances are similar next time I'm in the north Seattle area, I'll again be staying at La Quinta - Lynnwood.
