“Maybe I'm the exception ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2009

... or else my expectations were lower. I usually stay at Best Westerns, but I needed a less expensive option for a recent overnight trip to the Seattle area.

I found Extended Stay America via google (not priceline or hotels.com ... ), and booked directly via their website. The hotel was easy to find, just off I-5. The reception area was clean and tidy, not huge, but big enough. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful, and called my room shortly after I checked in to make sure everything was to my liking.

My ground-floor room, while not luxurious, was clean and everything was in working order. The mattress was maybe a little firmer than I like, but I slept just fine. I noticed no noise issues, either from other guests or from the road/parking lot. They offer wireless internet (not free, but cost is not much), and cable TV.

I would certainly use this hotel again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends, with appropriate caveats (don't expect a lot of bells and whistles).

“Couldn't get a good night's sleep!”

We stayed one night for a family event close by...the room wasn't bad, we also got a good deal through Priceline. The service was not bad, you get what you paid for...but what we didn't pay for was to hear the couple in the room right beside us have sex, like 6 times (I'm not joking). We're all for a great time, but PLEASE don't disturb other people! We had the worst sleep we've ever had...just for that experience, we'll pay a little bit more for thicker walls somewhere else!!!

“Yes - it is as bad as the previous reviewers say that it is!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2009

We had to stay in a hotel for a few nights while remodeling our house..so we thought that staying up in Lynnwood would be cheaper. Well, it was relatively inexpensive - but I'm sure that you could find a better place for the same price. For being a relatively new building, our room was quite beat up....we had a broken toilet, stained carpets, gouged walls! On the bright side, the staff was nice and helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Bare bones”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2009

We got a good deal through Hotwire, and we only stayed one night, stopping over on an extended shopping trip. The reception area was dingy and small, though the lady checking us in was pleasant enough. We got to our room on the 3rd floor overlooking the parking lot. One thing I didn't think about was the amount of noise from the traffic outside, being close to the freeway and beside a main road. Being a studio apt, there was also the noisy refrigerator. The room was cold, so we turned on the heat. A few minutes later we were baking, so we turned it down. We were never able to get the temperature right, we were too cold or too hot. The water was also a problem, at night there was no hot water and low pressure in the bathroom sink. The next morning I had to crank the handle all the way over to get hot water for the shower, and 30 mins later there was plenty for my husband. The bed and pillows were not the most comfortable, but we were able to get some sleep. There were funky smells all over the hotel, from the stairway to the hallway, and even the room, though we got used to the smell in the room pretty quickly, and it wasn't bad, just a little weird. It's clean enough, no bugs.

I wouldn't say this place is great, but it's not the worst we've seen either. I can see it being a good place to stay for low budget business travel, the kitchen is good to have for a longer stay. But remember to pack everything you'll need, there is no shampoo or hairdryer.

  • Liked — close to shopping
  • Disliked — a bit run down and dingy

“What a mistake!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2008

This hotel is not that nice. I booked with via Priceline. I did not think it was that bad from the pictures on the site so took a chance. The building exterior looks really modern but the rooms are very dated. The beds were horendous! The side of the box springs had stains all over it. The bed was hard as a rock. The room stunk when we walked in. We had to quickly open the windows. The bathroom was super tiny and the kitchen facilities were old. We stayed one night... luckily. I can't imagine how someone can stay here for extended periods of time.

The front desk staff at night was nice. But the morning person was grumpy. Since they knew it was Priceline, they gave an attitude. My thought is if you don't like Priceline customers, then don't sign up with Priceline.

Never again will I stay here!
