“This hotel lies and steals your money!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2010

Hotel management charged my credit card an extra $200, a few days later when I checked my statement and gave the hotel a call, after about 20 minutes of run around, staff said it was for a missing security safe. I did not even know there was a safe in the room! I was in the area dealing with the death of my father. It took a long time to deal with reporting this fraudulant charge to my credit card company,

“Worked out great”

My mom was having surgery at the Longview (St. Johns) Hospital, and I needed a place to stay with my son and our dog. The Travelodge is indeed right across the street from the hospital--and very close to the Lake Sacajawea Park, a lovely park in which to meander.

The desk agent was quick to get us checked in and handed us a sort of electronic key--not the card kind, thus not the kind you can be casual about handing in or not! It did work flawlessly, which is more than I can say about those card sorts of keys.

The room was reasonably sized, with a table and chair near the window on which I used my laptop. The wireless was periodically out but overall functional, and was free. It does have that annoying login screen dealio, but I was not surprised by this after our recent stay at a Travelodge in Monterey.

The bed was comfortable and had enough blankets. The in-room heater was odd--it didn't have a thermostat, just a dial for "very hot" through (I think) "very cold." The TV was reasonably sized and the remote was not tethered, which was nice. There is a 3-drawer dresser with ample drawers but no extra pillows. I asked for another pillow but there were none available.

The small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker were all on the wide sink next to the bathroom. The fridge was smaller than I'd expected, but after I bought too much frozen food and stored the food in there anyway, turning up the cooling, it actually kept things pretty well frozen. The micro was new-looking and worked fine. The coffee maker was a 4-cup version and came with both regular and decaf. No cream; just the powdered stuff.

As with Monterey Travelodge, no conditioner is available--just face soap and shampoo. The shower worked fine, as did the toilet. The shower also has a tub, but we didn't do any baths.

I asked for later checkout but was only given 1 extra hour (noon instead of 11), which was kind of annoying, since my mom wasn't released until 4:30PM. We hit the local Goodwill after packing up and it all worked out.

“Functional place with decent space”

I was a bit apprehensive driving in as the place is a bit underwhelming. However upon entering the room, that apprehension disappeared.

The room is a bit overpriced for what it is, but not bad for the area. I'd read earlier on another review that there was no A/C, but there is and it works well. There is an extra large entrance used to house the small fridge and microwave, so this helps a bit.

The bathroom looked clean but had some stain issues. Beds were a bit hard but not bad. If you are looking for a place to spend the night and get a decent shower, this place works.

Don't bother with the "breakfast". It's more like a community bag of bagels at the front desk. I wasn't there for the breakfast so it was irrelevant to me, but almost a bit embarrassing.
