“Great vacation at a GREAT property. Highly recommend!”
My family plus two guests (a total of 6) stayed two nights in a 2-bedroom condo (Bldg E) at the Aspen Suites, on a midweek web special price. The condo was beautifully decorated, was spotlessly clean, and had every amenity imaginable (from kitchen appliances to pizza baking pan; jacuzzi tub to fluffy terrycloth bathrobes). My son's friend commented, "This is nicer than my house!"
From initial contact at check-in (especially Jade), to interactions with staff at the Activities Center (esp. a young blond man, whose name I do not recall), to a telephone call made on our return home, the Icicle Village Resort demonstrated OUTSTANDING customer service. Because of a large contingent of guests at the hotel (a biking convention?), our check-in time was delayed, so the staff courteously provided my 3 kids with their choice of a complimentary activity option.
The three kids (17, 12, 11) were happily occupied at the arcade, swimming pool and mini-golf course (great bargain @ $15/unlimited golf+50 arcade tokens...with games generously giving tickets), while the adults window-shopped in the Bavarian-themed downtown (just minutes from the resort). Our entire group enjoyed a movie at the theater (the price of which was comparable to Regal Cinemas/etc), the "Nutcracker Museum", plus the fish hatchery just 2 miles away.
While we shopped at the local Safeway and prepared our own lunch/dinner, we did take advantage of the included breakfast buffet at J.J. Hills restaurant in the hotel. The food was very good, had nice offerings from hearty fare (biscuits & gravy, sausage) to lighter choices (fruit, oatmeal and yogurt) to delicious sweets ("Cinnabon-style" mini cinnamon rolls and muffins). One morning, when the line was long, the wait staff promptly refilled empty platters; also cleared our table with smiles on their faces.
While the Aspen Suites might cost a bit more "per night", the ability to cook our meals more than compensated for the higher price, as meal prices in Leavenworth tend to run on the high side (from my perusal of menus during our window-shopping, it seems $10 was an average price for lunch/person; $20 avg/dinner). All in all a wonderful experience in a quaint town. Will definitely stay at the Aspen Suites when we return to Leavenworth.
Check out the website...it outlines great web specials that can saved us over $100 per night!
