The "HoJo" Leavenworth is your basic, run down, NO frills, low budget motel. The problem with Leavenworth is if you want to stay in the town, you have limited options for lodging at a reasonable price. This is the only reason people would stay here. It is located about 5 blocks from downtown. The rooms are dingy, and could use completely renovated. I would compare the room to one step from a prison cell. The water in the shower went from warm to ice cold to very hot and would not maintain remperature. The slide-lock mechanism on the door was broken, the coffee maker had dead knats inside so I did not use it, and the room was heated with a space heater. The walls had no artwork at all, the towels smelled like smoke, and there were paint patches all over the room. The mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave were plugged into a power strip, which I did not find safe at all. The fridge made a loud noise that kept me up part of the night. The continental breakfast was basically a carb-fest. Limited options and Folgers coffee. No bananas or protein. I found the staff to be friendly and check in and check out were quick and easy. The bed had a lump in the middle. If you have no expectations, do not leave valuables in your room, and do not spend any time in your room, you will be okay. I will stay elsewhere net time. It is worth a few extra bucks to at least have a warm shower.

We booked months in advance for the light festival, I was just taking the kids, planning to spend a lot of time outside and didn't think I needed anything fancy, so it appeared to have all we needed. Definitely not a 3 star!!! We were extremely disappointed. I have never stayed at a Howard Johnson, and probably wont again. The first thing I did was pull back the sheets to check for undesirables, thankfully, all was okay, Our stay included a continental breakfast, what they served was okay, instant oatmeal, toast, danishes coffee, juice etc. , unfortunately where they served breakfast was less than desirable. Dirty tablecloths, dirty carpets, not very inviting.

Couldn't even enjoy a shower, temperature was all over the place, luke warm to scalding, and on our 2nd morning no hot water. Very disappointing stay over all.

Thank fully, Leavenworth itself is a wonderful place to visit and can't wait to return next year. but we definitely wont be staying at the " Ho Jo"

First impression of this hotel was that it was dingy and dirty. Closer look confirmed that it was dirty, sub-par, filthy shower/tub, dirty carpets. If you stay at this hotel, wear shoes at all times while in rooms, even while taking a shower.

This hotel/motel is not your classic Howard Johnson's with the restaurant but is basically a budget hotel that has quite sufficient and comfortable rooms and is right at the trail head of the waterfront part of Leavenworth!

I could not find a heater at first then realize it was a stand alone space heater...ut oh. No problem that little thing warmed the room very well. I'm thinking about getting some for home they do such a good job..little noisy though.
