Be prepared for barebones accomodations at Leavenworth's BLACKBIRD LODGE.
A first in years of travel--no chest of drawers! Though advertised as luxury accomodations, our very minimalist room had none of the amenities listed on it's website. Rustic and uncomfortable furnishings, linoleum flloors in bath and low wattage lamps made for a very spartan setting.
According to Front Desk staff, the Hot tub was closed for insurance reasons. While an intersesting but predictable "room service" breakfast was served daily, the room lacked cofee maker, microwave or refrigerator as boasted in promotional material. A few coat hangers and a golf pencil for messages set the tone for this barebones property.
In keeping with the Bavarian theme of Leavenworth, guests will feel like they are in a humble European B&B. Other rooms did offer more amenities but because we booked (for an entire week) through RCI / VRI, management blamed the time share company for confusion and would not make any concessions or upgrades.
Since each room is unique make sure you confirm amenities before you book. The Blackbird is one place where all the birdies go Cheap, Cheap, Cheap.
