Being a B&B owner myself, I'm highly critical of lodging establishments, and a bed and breakfast is no exception. Ashington Manor really impressed me, from the moment I drove in. The grounds are absolutely amazing and I immediately felt at peace. The friendly innkeeper met me and showed me around the property, even taking time to show me the open rooms (they're all so beautiful!). My room (the Guilford Room) was clean and spacious, the window opened to the sound of the babbling brook and fresh cool air, and the fireplace was such a nice feature. I was given detailed information about restaurants, shops, etc in downtown Langley (cool little town).
Coffee in the morning was just steps from my room, and breakfast was a wonderful fresh and healthy spinach, roasted red pepper & onion omelet with baby red potatoes, a dense and hearty slice of dark rye toast, and fresh juice. The conversation was casual, fun, and interesting.
I spent a good deal of time before breakfast in the gardens, listening to the frogs and birds, watching the geese enjoy the pond and just admiring the colors and beauty of the property. This is a wonderful place to get away, even if just for the weekend, and I hope to return someday.
