We attended a funeral for our nephew who was based at Ft. Lewis. We rented a room for my husband and I and another room for my kids who are 17 and 20. The area surrounding Ft. Lewis seems depressed - so America's Best Value Inn was on the lower end of what we've stayed in, but it was normal for the area within a 10 mile radius. Our rooms were $61 per nite each with an AARP discount. It was safe, quiet and not quite as spic and span as what we're used to. It provided rolls, cereal, coffee and juice each morning. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and accomodating. If I needed to stay in that area again, I'd definitely go back. La Quinta (a block away) looks like it may be a little nicer, but it charges $116 a nite with AARP discount.
