Loyalty disclaimer....I am a HIlton property guy to the tune of 75 nights a year. I was out visiting some family in the area and sans any Hilton properties, I gave the HIE a try knowing that they have done some rebranding and changing recently to their amenities.
I found the hotel nice and clean although I think they use a cleaner that is kind of old-fashioned hotel style. It was not necessarily a 'pretty' smell.
I mentioned that I was a Hilton Diamond and wondered if they would want to give me a taste of their suite. They offered it but said it was on the freeway side which leads me to believe they get road noise complaints. They did give us a corner room. Not sure if it is roomier than the normal rooms or not. It seemed small compared to the Hampton Inns I have stayed at. The bed was good. Better than a Hilton Garden but not as good as a Hampton Inn. I like the firm and soft pillow option with clearly marked pillow cases.
There was road noise even on our side. The water pressure was fantastic which is a huge positive for me. The room had a fridge which is very nice to have. I also enjoyed the HIE toiletry selection. The fitness center had 2 treads, 1 bike and free weights. The treads worked great despite being a brand I had never been on. The HIE breakfast is highly touted and I was anxious. I would give the nod to Hampton in this category. Yes, the cinnamon rolls and pancakes looked great but with their other items, left very little healthy options for me.
I think this was a decent property overall but I am definitely more impressed with the Hilton brand and overall amenities including their loyalty program. I would certainly stay here again if in the area.
Room Tip: Try to stay away from the freeway side.
