We stayed at the Red Lion in Kelso for one night this past weekend. It had been many years since we stayed there before, and we were happy to see that the Red Lion name still means quality, even at their older establishments.
Our room was large, as was the bathroom; we had two sinks, one inside and one outside of the bathroom. Beautiful granite countertops both places. The beds were pillowtops, the bedding new. The only thing that had NOT been upgraded was the TV; the cable connection wasn't the best either.
We were disappointed to find that the restaurant has closed. Our only dining choice was the sports bar. We did have an excellent meal, with great service. It being Halloween weekend, we also enjoyed seeing the costumes as guests arrived for a costume contest later that evening. But our question is: where would we have eaten dinner if we'd brought our granddaughter with us? The only option would be to head down the street to Denny's... Maybe when the economy improves (will it ever?), the restaurant will reopen.
In any event, we will definitely stay here again--it's a great starting point for a trip heading south from Seattle.
