“Absolutely Perfect”

We found it on the internet. It seemed the best of our choices. I was a little afraid it would be too log cabin cheesy, but I was wrong. It was quaint, secluded, and perfect. We stayed in the Log Cabin. It was great. I have a hard time sleeping on most beds unless they are inflatable, but this bed was pretty good. The fresh eggs in the morning were delicious. The view was serene. I wish we could have stayed longer, and I look forward to returning some day. My recommendations, buy food at the local store and hunker down. You won't want to leave.

“Absolutely charming”

We stayed 4 nights at the Guest House Cottages on Whidbey during the end of February. It was truly magical. We stayed in the Log Cabin which I would highly recommend. We were the only ones on the whole grounds and it felt very private and cozy.

The cabon was a bit smaller than I had anticipated but it wound up being just perfect for the 2 of us. The bedroom was very cozy and the king sized feather bed was super comfortable. I loved the wood stove and we had fires every night. There was plenty of chopped wood on the side of the cabin for us. In fact, the stove was completely ready with wood and newspaper already set up the first time. All we had to do was light a match.

The kitchen is complete with a small refrigerator, sink, over and stove and had various pots and pans and utensils. They had some muffins, bagels, cheese, danishes and milk available for us and even stopped by the 3rd day to ask if we wanted any more.

The bathroom is small but had a wonderful jetted tub just barely big enough for two.

The best part of it was definately the pond out back. The bedroom has french doors that open up to a porch which looks out over the pond. They even provide duck food for feeding the huge family of mallards living there. They even came right up to the porch for their morning meal. One bit of warning is you might want to bring earplugs as the ducks can get a little boisterous early in the morning.

I highly recommend this place and plan to come back again and again. I cant imagine staying in any other cabin either. The log cabin is perfect!

“Adorable Country Cottages”

We came to Whidbey Island for a friend's wedding and stayed at the Guest House Log Cottages per the couple's recommendation. We just loved it! It is clear that whoever runs the place pays a lot of attention to detail. The place had everything you could ever possibly need and all of it is complimentary. The kitchen was stocked with every dish, utensil, pot and pan and baking dish you would ever need to make a breakfast, lunch or dinner. The refrigerator was stocked with eggs, fresh real fruit jellies, butter, cream cheese, etc. In the evenings we heated some water in our cute little kettle and had hot apple cider. In the mornings we delighted in their beautifully served cheese danish's. I'd give it 5 stars, but I must admit some of the furnishings are a bit old (though well taken care of) and set off my allergies a bit. Still, it was a cute little place with lots of fun amenities.

“Old World Charm and Hospitality”

South Whidbey's Guest House Cottage Resort is absolutely precious! If you are seeking an escape from the glut of contemporary high rises, soulless condos, and fast impersonal service ...come to South Whidbey and stay in this resort. The managers treat YOU AS FAMILY and negotiate to your needs, so communicate them and be honored.
Deep feather beds to sink into. Giant fireplaces with abundant dry wood. Antiques and elegance. Beautiful romantic foods under polished glassware. Treelined walkways to a swimming pool, hot tubs, jaquizzis in room, or separate... and a small lake with a wooden swing! Free movies. Quiet. Perfect getaway for nature worshippers needing tending....we were thrilled and plan to return!!!! A rare jewel...thanks, Chelsea Bonacello.

“A secluded cottage in the woods”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2009

We stayed two nights in the Kentucky Log Cottage. It was much larger than I expected and is very secluded. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Since the cottage is in a very wooded location, the skylights in the bedroom, bathroom, living room, dining room & kitchen help a lot to provide good light. The cottage has a “real cabin” feel – with lots of old magazines, a book case with 4 shelves of books, a couple of decks of cards & a Scrabble game. The wood burning fireplace is great!

The cabin has separate heat controls in the living room, bedroom & bathroom. Some of the ceiling lights have dimmer switches; it was nice being able to dim the lights to change the atmosphere of the rooms. All of the rooms warmed up very quickly. There is a TV/DVD in the living room & a very small TV in the bedroom. There is a stereo (radio, CD & tape player) in the dining room; classical music was softly playing when we arrived at the cottage.

The kitchen is very well equipped. Food was provided for 2 breakfasts & the dining table was set before our arrival. We prefer simple breakfasts and don’t care for rich food so we didn’t really care for most of the pastry type offerings – and the bagels weren’t very good either. But there were basic food items such as eggs & cereal. We liked being able to have a private breakfast in our cabin whenever we wanted to so we were overall happy with the breakfast setup.

We didn’t use the pool or hot tub.

Since the bedroom has a stained glass window in addition to a skylight, someone who likes a dark room for sleeping late in the morning or likes to take naps might want to bring a sleep mask.
