Sad to say our stay at the Mt Baker Bed and Breakfast in September 2011 was not particularly enjoyable. We arrived just after dark and had to fumble around just to find the proper entrance to the room. Except for a distant street light, the place was pitch dark.
The "breakfast" was pathetic, minimal at best. We expected that the hostess/host would stop by and replenish the food supply for day 2---no such luck. We even tried to contact Vel for some assistance, but there was no phone coverage. (Just imagine what might happen at the B & B if there was a true emergency). We did not see anyone for the 2 days we were there...zero service... zero hospitality!! However, we could tell someone had been there during the day while we were away hiking, as they took the time to pick up our check payment....and did nothing else. Our B&B experience was confined to a downstairs bedroom, short hallway and shared bathroom. We did not have access to the house proper.
Returning from our trip, we wrote Vel several times to express our disappointment in her B&B and its management. After 3 months, she finally responded. Her excuses were lame, insensitive and unapologetic.
So, if you are looking for a B&B where you are a welcomed guest, this may not be the place for you. If you just need a bed and a shower and expect nothing else, you'll need to decide if staying here is worth the price---for us it was not.
