“Shopping getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Stayed here in November 2011 for a two night's stay for a quick shopping trip to Bellingham. Overall, the hotel presented as very clean. The price was right (use your Entertainment Book for a discount) and had an indoor pool and hot tub. The free breakfast included your choice of coffee, apple or orange juice, waffles, 2 kinds of cereal, boiled eggs, muffins, toast, and bagels. Not huge but certainly enough to get you started in the morning. In the lobby was coffee, decaf, and tea complete with creamers and flavoured coffee add-ins. A nice touch instead of the usual powder coffee whitener. Our in-room amenities included a micowave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. In the bathroom only bars of soap and a small bottle of shampoo are provided. I was happy I brought along my own moisturizer and hair conditioner. Check-in was pleasant and efficient. I was offered my choice of floors/location of my room. I chose a room on the third floor as recommended by the clerk, since nobody would be above me for a quieter stay. The pool and hot tub were open until 10pm. AThis was a nice way to ease tired bodies from a day of hectic shopping! Next to the hotel is a Denny's and McDonalds, as well as a gas station quick mart. A two minute drive away is a Cost Cutter for grocery convenience. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. We did see a lot of big rigs in the adjacent parking lot, but they did not bother us as our room faced the freeway side. We did not hear any road noise from the freeway and had a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a third floor room that backs onto the "freeway side"

“Very Clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Typical Super 8, however this was the first motel i stayed in after 2 weeks that had a free USA Today newspaper available. The motel is a 3 storey block with an internal elevator, there is an indoor pool by reception that seems to be unavailable during the afternoons because local mothers us it for child swimming lessons. My room was average size, clean and with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was the usual Super 8 fare. There is a Dennys next to the motel.

Room Tip: Beware, behind the motel is a very large truckstop. Vehicles come and go all night, some leave their...

“taxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We had a 34 hr. down time, so we got a room at the super 8. Its a decent hotel, everyone is nice, there are 3 or 4 choices for dining, Dennys right next door gives a 10% discount if you have your room key, if you are an AARP member you get 20% off how great is that?
My problem was the tax charge on our stay. We got trucker rates, so 67.90 a night, until tax is added. bringing it up to 75.03 a night. I couldn't believe it was so high. I guess thats the price we pay for a hot bath, a confortable bed to stretch out in.
It is great place to stay as long as you budget isn't to tight.

Room Tip: ask to see 2 or 3 rooms includin the handycap room

Thank you for letting us serve you. Although Washington State hotel tax seems to be a little higher than around the country, there is not much we can do about the taxes that are paid here in the State. We hope this doesn't deter you from staying with us again. Hope to see you soon.

“Good value; works for a quick trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

It was clean, quiet and priced right. Not fancy but more than adequate and the breakfast had enough options for everyone to find something they liked. Waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereal and more. Again, good value.

“Good value for the money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

I have been staying at the Ferndale Super 8 for years - it's the most convenient location for visiting my NW Washington relatives, and I've always found the staff helpful, have never had a problem with my reservation or my room, and I would definitely recommend it. By no means is it 5 star, but for under $80/night, it's a good value.

And, as others have said, its proximity to the 5 as well as McDonalds and Dennys make it even more appealing, not to mention the pool and hot tub.

Oh and the mini-fridge & microwave in the room make it even easier when travelling with small children!

Room Tip: I always ask for the ground floor and have always found the rooms clean and comfy.
